Anyone Painted their Rotors???

Has anyone painted their Brake Rotors - or wheel hubs or whatever they are called - the thing that gets rust on them. I was wanting to do that to my Z, and also my 1999 SH Prelude using the G2 paint.

Anyone have any experience with this, or seen any instructions on this?

I have painted my calipers on my Z already. Is it a similar process?

The paint would just rub off the rotors as soon as you hit the brakes. But you could try if you really wanted to :p

anyway, the rust should come right off once you step on the brake.

You are talking about the center section of the rotor, sometimes called the hub or the hat.

I suppose you can paint it with a high-temp paint. The brake rotors tend to get pretty hot, so a normal paint will just cook right off.

Make sure to remove ALL the rust and residue on the hub. Cover the surface of the rotor so you don't get any overspray on it. Spray the hubs with the paint and let it dry.

Give them about an hour or two to dry, then put them back on the car.

No guarantees it will stay looking pretty....

Hope that helps.

Whatever you do, do not paint your rotors!! You can however paint your brake calipers.

Yeah, don't even paint your rotor surface just thinking it will "come off" if you do go to paint the edges. Mask it off, because all that paint can't be good for getting gummed up in your brake pad and whatnot.

yeah i have stillen rear and ap racing front and i didnt like the gold color . tape off wheels and prep surface. i bead blasted the rear and wire wheeled the front . re taped and sprayed with vht rotor and caliper paint it is good to 900 degrees .before painting spray with brake cleaner to get off any residue. put about 3 or 4 coats and they look professionally done. keep in mind this only the hub area........
