Cusco Upper arms question? Help!
Any answers is appreciated. I have an 03 that I lowered 3/4 inch with Hotchkis springs and sways. Camber was real bad and I ruined two Toyo 19's. I have just installed Cusco front adjustable A arms, Tokico D specs and SPC rear adjustable arms.
I went and had an all wheel alignment and they set everything to factory specs. The rear looks good, but they said they could not set the front any different from the factory specs. Any thing else would be considered a custom setting and they could not do this? WTF? They did not even adjust my upper a arms to offset the fact that the car has been lowered. I think this will be no help since I'm lowered 3'4 of an inch. What should my front camber be set at considering my set up? |
Anybody have and suggestions on camber adjustment?
Front left is -1.44 Front right is -1.85 Wheels are 19's Tires are front 245/35,rear 275/35 lowered 3/4 to 1 inch. Tokico D specs, Hotchkis springs and sways GOAL is to have a good reasonable tire wear on a daily driver. Track use minimal, perhaps once a year. |
The Cusco camber arms are made to increase negative camber for track use or whatever your reason(s) may be.
Sorry! |
No one can answer how much camber you will get from the adjustments on your Cusco arm. The adjustments points are in milimeters and not a preset amount of degree(s). You have to also remember that there is a camber curve so the lower your car, the more negative camber you will have and thusly the 1 and only positive increment will not be the same if your car was higher.
If you want to get your back closer to spec, you can either buy some new arms or max positive your Cusco arms and raise the car up until you are at the desired camber level. Hope that helps! |
Interesting..... I was just about to post a similar question. I just bought Cusco A-arms with the hopes of bringing my lowered Z back closer to stock alignment to save tire wear.

Did you adjust the arms for full positive camber before installing? If not, it's pretty easy to change.

Also, are you really adverse to running the negative camber? It's not much at all and as long as your toe is in spec, your tires will not wear out quickly at all.
Contrary to popular belief, toe is what will shreds tires quickly, not camber. |
I just adjusted it out one click, or hole and it made an improvment in camber. My friend has a magnetic camber gauge and it did put it closer to spec. Left side is -1.25 and right side is now -1.56. It only moved the arm out about 1/8 of an inch.

bumping an oldie, sorry.. I just installed a set of these - how do you adjust them on your own for negative camber / or instruct an alignment shop in order to do so? a little strange that some only had 1.4ish of neg camber when stock range is 1.3? any ideas?
thanks in advance. |
Have you looked at them, loosen 4 bolts , slide the adjuster , tighten 4 bolts
|
those are the 4 on top? got it ;)
so an alignment shop who knows their stuff, esp one that does "racecars", should know how to align those , yes? |
yes
|
thank you. sorry for the n00b question(s).
