I want my junk stiff like a rock
But not as stiff as "Bob's sleigh full of joy or whatever that weird commericial says"
Can springs make your ride stiffer or is it the stocks that do the work.
I am not willing to invest in coilovers because I plan on getting rid of my Z in a couple of years anyway. So until then, I just want a nice show Z.
Basically, what exactly causes a stiff suspension?

Sway bars will probably be the cheapest way to what you want, but it will primarily affect "roll stiffness". (Turns)
Springs and struts/shocks can both stiffen your ride but if you mod one drastically without compensating the other, you can get a bouncy ride, (springs) or an over-damped ride. (From struts)
If you must chose between springs or struts, many struts/shocks are adjustable, so I would go that route.
Of course, you can't "see" new struts. Your car's ride height will stay the same.

springrates combined with shocks valved with higher dampening. stock springrates are actually quite stiffer than many of the aftermarket springs out there. Your best be is the purchase tokico d-spec shocks which are adjustable and can be made much stiffer than stock and using those with your OEM springs. That will be the cheapest option

i didnt mean for it to sound like springs OR shocks.
i can do both, no problem. I just didnt know a whole lot about it all.
But thanks everyone, tokico seems interesting with the adjustables.
maybe i can pair them up with tanabe springs and call it a day.
the road I take to school has one area where its like a rollercoaster, and i go to school when traffic is to the max, so i dont want to be "that one kid" who drives 20mph in a 45, so I just want a stiffer ride so i dont slap the ground when I am lowered.

seems like ya dont really know EXACTLY what youre wantin. cause you can go stiff....REALLY stiff...I'm going with nismo T2's and koni sport adjustables as soon as I get the money...the Nismo's are 600 pounds per inch front 690 pounds per inch rear as opposed to 315 pounds front 427 pounds rear, doesnt necessarilly translate into good handling if you dont have it set up properly. Just start readin around. *********.com is a good place with lots of basic information.

is those stars 350zminustech?
and yea, im kinda a noob and need direction on where to look because i dont know the terms.
i want to lower my car 1" and i was just going to buy springs
but thought if i just bought springs, it might not stiffen up much and i might be slapping the ground with my kit or rubbing my tires since im going to be wearing 9.5" with a +20 offset all around.
so i thought maybe i needed to buy shocks as well to shorten the "travel" of the compression or whatever it is called.
i dont track my car, i dont race around corners. i do a little straight line for fun once in a great while but thats about it.
