installed tokico hp's ..i'm cheap..thanks

okay guys i just installed some tokico hp's ..sorry i have no pic's because i went to my dads to install them and forgot the camera....i have the tanable nf210s springs with these shocks...stock shocks were getting really loose..

front tokico shocks were about 1 inch - 1 1/2 inch shorter than the stock front shocks..the rears looked about the same..as for the ride..it doesn't bounce like it use to and is a more soft ride....i got these for 223 shipped...sorry i don't have alot of money to buy some expensive shocks but these do ride good for the price.

Hmm good reviews....can't wait to install mine!!! I heard the HP's give 25% more rebound than OEM.

Damn it somebody beat me to it. I'm getting these or the D specs later this year.

The fronts were 1-1.5" shorter than stock and the rears were the same as stock? That seems kinda wierd. What if your front is only dropped 1/2", Wouldn't that cause the shocks to be hyper-extended?

i don't really no man..i didn't have the camera to take up close pic's but when i put them next to each other..the tokico were a little shorter......it rides better then stock shocks on lowering springs i can tell you that for sure

which tokicos were shorter? the HP's or the OEM's? Tokico makes the OEM's man :icon14:

Good to know.

Do you know if the diameter of the rear HP's are about the same as the stockers? Reason I ask is I have VERY tight clearance to the rear shocks due to kinda wide tires out back and have no room for any spacer. When I get the camber fixed i will have enough room but still curious as to how they compaire to stock because I'm going to get shocks first then correct the camber to see how each mod improves ride and cornering quality.

:icon8: The front HP's are shorter then oem shocks? In what way, case length and or piston rod length? To bad you didn't bring the camera, but I doubt taking a pic of a HP shock next to a oem shock would have been on your to do list.:icon44:

HP's being shorter makes no sense given their intended mission, especially in light of their higher line performance shock setup, D-specs having the same front case length and piston rod lengths.

Shorter front case lenths and or piston rod lenths will not have the same ride height with the same spring installed as the spring is drawn down further by higher preload levels because of effects of the shortning. I have shorter front shocks in the front that have 1" shorter case length and 1" shorter in piston rod lengths, netting a 2" drop because of the 2" combined shortening, with the same spring installed, same preload level. So, if your correct about the HP's being shorter in the front, you would be lower in the front then before as a result.

i guess i am going to have to take them out to take a picture

Chad68 Jun 25, 2008 06:44 AM

Hey man it's been a few months, how are they working out?

black06z Jun 26, 2008 10:47 PM

yes, where's the pics? On my other car, I used the tokico Hp's and they were a little shorter than the OEM and dropped the car over 1/2" more than the springs with OEM. The thing that I don't understand here is why aren't the rears shorter as well.
