Best 350z Non-brembo brake pads
Does anyone have suggestions for which brake pads to purchase for a 350z non-brembo for street driving? Should I just stick with OEM, Hawk HPS, or something else?
I assume ceramics are the best choice due to the lack of brake dust and brake pad/rotor life. Thanks. |
for street driving, id say oem

If there is a possible chance of doing a open track day I like hawk pad's, otherwise OEM would do just fine.

+1. OEM are good pads for normal street driving. I personally am using ProStop Ceramic pads... just because they're low dust, and don't squeal. Not sure about the life though, claims to be longer than OEM, but we'll see... :D

Finally a brake pad thread. Lets get this subject out in the open for discussion.

I'd stick with OEM, but I use to run PMU B-Force pads on my stock brakes and loved them.

uhhh i still wouldn't run stock pads just for the fact that, if you need to stop and your runnin anywhere near 100 the brakes will start to fade out on the 1st hard stop.

hawk hps /thread

Hawks aren't made for low speed stops, so for daily driving OEM is better imo. Hawks would be better if you plan on stopping from 100 like lilpud mentioned.

OP - are you looking for fronts or rears or both? I have some extra street rears since I am in the middle of changing rear brake set-ups. I may have a front set also, I could look, but I have used Hawk HPS, NISMO, and Axxis Ultimate for street use with great success. |
Stock is too dusty. I liked axxis ultimates and hawk HPS. I did not like oem.

I don't care what anybody says, ceramics are always better. Track-proven by me.

You're all crazy. StopTech performance pads. Higher bite and higher temperature range than the HPS. Less dust and less noise than the HP+ or Axxis ULT pads.
If you wanted to do a 100mph run with these, you can. If you wanted to take your car to the track with these, you can do it without having these pads fade. If you have a full blown high HP car running really sticky tires like slicks, then you probably aren't running stock brakes, and should be running full race pads. |

I'm currently on the same set of Akebono pads that I installed back in 2006. No noise or dust and it's my boosted daily driver.
