7 years and 73,000 miles on my JIC FLTA-2's
 

Soooo…. After 73k miles my JIC FLTa2’s seemed to have finally bit the dust….or blown…??? Anyway….. I hadn’t noticed as much in my DD around town, but when I got out on the highway to head down to Austin a few weeks back for ACL, the @ss is boucing around all over the place. I felt like a lowrider in one of those ridiculous bounce contests

Has anyone actually sent their JIC’s off to get rebuilt? From the looks of it, it will probably run me about $600 for the rebuild + labor costs to yank and reinstall….

That being said, I’ve been out of the suspension loop for the Z since I got my JIC’s on in 2003…. I’ve been more than pleased with the performance of the car (which admittedly far exceeds my piloting ability) but as some can attest too… the JIC’s are harsh for daily living if you don’t have the roads for it. (IE perfect or track worthy surfaces) I know I had a great, and probably rare; experience with them, but I would hate to rebuild them and have them fail when I could have put the money towards a newer offering with more proven reliability and/or a little more forgiving when off track.

Now that I mention it, I don’t track the car but I do love to drive "spirited" when other cars aren’t a factor. Is there a standout offering that the street driven/Daily Driven guys are going to these days? Or am I better off rebuilding for $600 and hoping for another care free 70k miles?

Simple to pull off and send away for rebuild. Mark your setting, and don't bother having a shop do it for you.

if I didn't need the car daily that would be my plan, two weeks to rebuild means I have to find someone with a stock setup I can slap in for a couple weeks.
