Stock Upgrade or Brembo?
So this is my dilemma, I currently have an 07 base 350z with stock pads, rotors at 55k. I can get a great deal for a oem brembo kit (rotors, pads, lines, F&R) of an 03 track, question is would I be better off upgrading my current setup to slotted rotors, ss lines, hawk hp plus pads, and motul brake fluid or pull the trigger and get the brembos?
Cliff Notes:
Normal street use
1-2 Track days a year
Not FI

as you get better on the track, the small brakes are likely to start fading. Brembos will help, but aren't heat proof. Rotors/pads are going to be more expensive on the Brembos too - not much, but more.
So.. it depends on what 'better off' means.. Bigger, better looking, yes. Necessary for your driving? only you know that - how are your current brakes performing? What's your budget like?

Currently my stock brakes are doing good they brake when I need them to indoor heavy braking, only downside is screeching when they get used up a bit, but then again I haven't been on a brembo equipped car. Budget wise, the brembos are coming in for a good deal if I pull the trigger, later on just upgrade the rotors and pads

I would just go with the brembos especially since you say you can get them for a good price. If you start tracking the car more the brembo will obviously be more fade resistant with the proper pads and fluid. I mean it's all on what you want to do. IMO I wouldn't waste money on the stock brakes.

I have the brembos on my "06 Grand Touring model. I just finished reading a couple of books about Z cars and they talked about the stock brakes vs. the brembo brakes. Basically, they said both brakes stop you equally well, but the brembo's are much more resistant to fading if you do repeated hard stops. I don't do any track days, and I don't drive hard on the streets, so I can't speak from any first hand knowledge.

If I'm wrong please correct me, an 07 and the 03 brembo brakes are the same caliper wise correct? The only difference would be pistons ? Brembo 4 up front and 2 in the rear Vs. My base model 2 up front and 1 in the rear?

The Brembo rotors are also much wider, so they can handle heat better.

Good thread. I just bought a set of used brembo calipers off a 2007 Z and I'm putting them on my 2006, along with brand new rotors. I'm hoping a notice some better performance out of the Brembo setup relative to the OEM '06 brakes, but if not at least I'll have something that looks real nice!

That's what I was thinking. Thanks for the confirmation!
Will do. I'm scheduled to go in May 19th for the swap so I'll try to post up some impressions that night.
