Brakes won't depress...ugh
So here is a fun one.
Yesterday morning, I was reversing out of my driveway, and as pressed the brake, the pedal wouldn't budge. There would be a slight bit of braking power, but nothing I would trust my life with. After maybe 30-40 seconds of driving at low low speeds, the brake pedal and power was back to normal. The car was fine all day. And I only drove it again after 8 hours when i left work and the pedal was still working fine. It wasn't until this morning where I had the exact same problem. Brake pedal won't go down or engage brakes. After the same duration, they were fine. And they remain fine during the day. What is happening? Thanks for any input. |
Check the brake booster line with the check valve in it, near the battery. The pedal feels the same as when the engine is off?
|
so you step on the pedal as hard as you can and nothing happens, right?
+1 on brake booster check.. |
Did you check the brake fluids? And of course the brake booster. Check for leaks on the MC and all 4 wheels.
|
It does feel like the car is off basically. I press, and there is full resistance. Nothing gives. I checked for leaks, nada. What am I looking for on the brake booster and MC? I'll check my fluids tomorrow as well.
Like I said, it goes away after 30 seconds of driving. Any idea what could be happening? |
i might have a similar situation, whats the break booster?
|
Big round housing on the firewall that the master cylinder mounts to, uses engine vacuum to help you push the brake pedal.
