Rear Arms/Knuckle Bushings - ES Replacement - Anyone done'it?
 

My rear shock mount bushings in the knuckles are cracking apart and a few others; so i've ordered the poly replacement by Energy Suspensions, part#7.3122

Now, today, i dropped the subframe(also installing subframe bushings), and while I was looking over the arms in the rear, inspecting the bushings in the knuckles, looks like the oem rubber bushings seem to have a metal "bushing race" also pressed in the knuckle.

I was wondering if anyone who've installed these before can chime in and help out, but I'm assuming that I'll have to reuse metal bushing race along with the ES poly replacement? Please correct me if i'm wrong but I'm only assuming this because I see that the replacement nismo bushings have the bushing race around their hardened ruber bushing, and also the replacement whiteline poly bushings have it also. But the ES ones pictured do not, so thats my assumption.

i have this whole kit on my car. pressing out the stock ones was a ***** just cause fooling with the knuckle can be rather clumsy.

and the stock/nismo bushings have the metal outer casing attached to it. that needs to come out as well. you dont need those, just make sure you pair up the correct bronze inner metal thing to the correct bushings, i had to label mine just to be sure. let me know if you have anymore questions!

Never done this on a Z. On the 240's you burn those suckers out with a blowtorch.

thanks for the input, i've decided to just change the shock mount bushings to save time because i have to wrap this up before jan 13(next event), the other bushings on the knuckles and front caster arm isn't that terrible and the rest of my arms are spherical bearing aftermarkt so im sure i'll be good. I'll save doing the rest for summer or when i have more time.

yep, im a long time 240 owner and thats what we do, and thats what i did ;) :thumbup:
plus it kept us warm; we dont have a shop heater'
