03 in need of new shocks/struts. Options?
After 10 years 5 months and 111K miles, I think its time to replace my shocks and struts. The ride and handling is just not right anymore. The only suspension modification i have is RSR Ti2000 springs which are at least 8 years old themselves.
Currently the car gets driven about 250 miles per month. I dont track it and i dont really drive it as hard as i once did. I am at a loss as to what shocks and struts to go for. I really think adjustable would be overkill for my use. I intend on keeping the RSR springs and may go ahead and do sways because it would liven up the car. The specs for the RSR springs are: Front - 345 lb Rear - 417 lb Down Data: F-0.6, R-0.6 in Any suggestions would be appreciated as well as any other suspension maintenance items i should address. So far the only two routes i have thought about are the OEM 2004+ shocks and struts or the Tokico HP Blue. I don't really have a price point in mind, except that i am value oriented. |
Do you want to lower the car at all? Could go with Tein Street Basis coilovers. Best bang/buck imo.

OEM shocks , Tokico Blue or Tokico D-Specs. I would run D-Specs , they will probably perform best with the springs you have.
Also look into the LCA and compression arm bushings. They are most likely shot. |
JERZ350, no desire in lowering past the .6" I have now with the RSR. With my V1 Nismo bumper it already takes enough of a beating at that height.
terrasmak, thanks for the suggestions! I think i will most likely do the bushings too. I have have had a busted rear diff bushing long before there was a replacement available. My list of things to have done grows daily. |

You should just buy some stock ones that someone removed to use coil overs at 40k.
Pm me for price thats too low to post! |

Your much better off with new shocks. They have a servacable life of roughly 60k miles
Im not just saying that because I have some either. |
Honestly just go with the Tokico HP's
I've been running them for about 10K and they match well with aftermarket springs in terms of ride quality and they are only slighty more expensive then the OEM's |
Sorry to deviate somewhat but I dislike making new threads. My Z has 128k miles on it and Im replacing springs/struts also. My question is what else needs to be replaced? 128k miles is quite a bit and i doubt anything has been replaced.
