Opinion on which coilover is best overall

ok, I'm about to take the plunge and buy some coilovers for my 07Z. I've seen a lot of people here that are on Stance GR+ TRU coilovers. I would like to get your guys's input on which coilovers are the best all around.

All around KW V2 or V3

Lexo350z 01-23-2013 11:55 AM

Those are good but how about more affordable bit still good.

KW V1 then and those are really affordable. Anything less then around $1300 is just going to be JUNK

Well let me ask you. How bout BC or Stance GR TRU coilovers. Ksport or D2. Are any of those good??

03threefiftyz 01-23-2013 12:57 PM

No.

I Bought Bc-br type coilovers for $995 and I've had for them for about 600 miles. So far I have no complaints, if your just buying coilovers to adjust ride height and have stiffer springs then I see nothing wrong with BC coilovers. They're great for daily driving and if it feels to bumpy or to soft then you can adjust the damping on them to set to your liking.

Tanabe Sustec Pro-fives

I'm happy with my Tanabe Sustec Pro-fives on my 07 350Z. I think paid $1200 back in 09.

I like this route

Just look up Motor Trend's coil over of the year. See which company's ad looks "the best"

ditto

Just got Megan Racing Track coilovers for $880 shipped (IIRC). I don't see any problems with them. The finish and craftsmanship seems like really good quality. They are very stiff at 1/2 dampening (step 16 on 1-32). At 3 they feel just a bit more bumpy than stock (exactly what I was looking for). I don't understand how they are junk O.o
They may not return the most linear response that a $3K set would. But they certainly are no downgrade from stock suspension.
My experience is limited though. I had a Jetta on Koni dampeners (yellow) and Nuespeed springs, WRX with STi suspension, and Mazda3 with Eibach springs.

P.S. What I would consider "crap" are $300 Raceland coils.

+1. Best option. Listen to him, OP.

I've had Tein SuperStreets before and the ride quality and performance isn't comparable to my V2.

The dampening sucks, that is why. OEM shocks will actually be better quality.

"Best" is a very relative term... Depends on the price point you're looking at. KW makes solid products for the price I'd say, but if you really want something to preform you have to spend big bucks.

How do you measure suck?

Tough to pick "the best". OP, what are you goals in buying coils? What important to you? Comfort, adjustable, handling, ride height, price, quality, etc? Whats the Z going to be used for? Daily driving, weekend car, drag, road courses, etc? Knowing this info, the forum can recommend "the best" coils for what you need them for.

SlowNFurious 01-24-2013 11:33 AM

I have Tanabe Sustec Pro S-0C. They are inexpensive and provide a quality ride. They have the same springs as the higher dollar Tanabe's. They are cheap because they have no adjustability other than ride height, so if you are looking for a track setup, look elsewhere.

First off I wanted to thank everyone for their input, I wasn't looking for anyone to argue with each other nor was I looking for flame. This is my first Z and I love it as I'm sure most of you guys do as well. For the most part this is going to be a Daily for me. I want to lower it ie (almost like) but not quite that low in the aggressive wheels and tire thread, I want to lower it but not so low as to where I can't drive daily. I do though want to get rid of wheel gap not sure about tucking but wheel gap for sure is a must to get rid of. I don't wanna spend alot of money but don't wanna go cheap neither. My budget is between $1000-$1300. Not gonna track it at least not now maybe in the future if any but deff not now. I'd like to go low but also have a nice decent ride as well. Don't wanna bag it at all so that's out of the question. I was saying stance only because I'm a newbie and don't know any different. So with that said I hope everyone can feel free to tune in and offer their suggestions. Ive only started to post but have been lurking for awhile now. I hope that I too in the future can be a pro and suggest amongst you Z owners. Thanks again for all inputs. Respectfully Lexo350z to all you Z owners.
