Buying a Z tommorrow...Need advice about the dealer's prices TONIGHT!
The past 2 days I have been dealing with the few dealers in town. I need some advice on what is the best deal for future resale value. Will there be a big difference in resale value based on the years? or is it more based
on mileage? Here is the deals I am trying to choose between... 2004 Daytona Blue Base model (6spd) - $25,300 w/ (2% financing b/c of end of year incentives) OR 2005 Super Black Base model (6spd) - $25,500 w/ regular intrest rates...not sure on exact rate yet, but would be around 4% - 5%. Both are same model and same options. The only difference is color, price, and APR %. My question is...What would be the best deal in the long run? Save a little money now and go with the '04, or get the newer year model and go with the '05? The only thing that worries me about getting the '04 over the '05 is the resale value later down the road. (most likely I will sell the car in about 3 maybe 4 years.) Please let me know what yall think ASAP. I will be going to the dealer tommorrow and close the deal on one of them. Thanks, Jon |
well how often do you plan on driving it is the first question, is it a daily driver? also one reason you may want to go w/ an 05 is because they may have corrected tire feathering and tranny problems, although the problems w/ that on the 04's werent nearly as bad as the 03's, so its all a matter of choice

I'd go with the 04, 2% vs what 4-5% adds up over time.

Its going to be a daily driver.

I made the '04 choice a week ago... you can do much better on the price of that too. Simple rule is to set your price really low, if they won't tough it get up and walk.... if they follow you to the car you are set, if they let you walk your offer was too low for even them (advice from my brother who worked as a salesman for a couple years before he became sick with himself)... similar advice from another friend that did audi/porsche sales as well.
Personally I could have done better but I got the gotta have its... You'll save at the lower interest rate and if you keep it for 4 years the resale value difference will almost be eliminated. |
What should i be paying for an 04 base?
Both cars come with the aero package, mud guards, cargo net, floor mats, trunk mats, and wheel locks. They showed me the invoice, and it was over what they are selling it for. Consumer reports says the base model has a $24.8 invoice price w/o all those above options. So I though I was doing pretty good. But I might go ahead and see if he will lower it to $25 even. Jon |
Do you like one color better than another? If so, that's the one I would take.
If no color choice I guess I'd take 2% financing but its a close call. An 05 would probably sell for a bit higher in 4-5 years. Sounds like a good price to me; whatever you post, someone on here will tell you that you can do better. |
If you can get the '04 for 25k then I say go for it.

Hey
I had made up my mind to go and buy a used z ('04 base- 7k miles)...but have been reading about the feathering issue...and probably want to do some more research on this before i take the jump. Have you thought about this at all? |
Not positive but, I think the '05 have a few improvements, if not upgrades to the '04.....Heated outside mirrors, the seats are able to flip forward, and a few other things......Either way, You'll love either one I'm sure.....GL2U...Dave
