Milage when buying a NEW car
Hey guys, i got a chance to sit in my Z which wil be delivered wednesday, but it has 17 km (10 Miles) on it, and since i heard people say that there should be no more than 2 or 3 km on it, i was wondering if maybe the "wax" guy is driving it

According to my boss at the garage I work at, (we also sell used cars) there should only be 1.8 miles on a brand new car. Thats all it takes to be driven at the factory and on and off the truck.

Some dealerships will drive it around for test drives or to give it a test run.
I bought my car with 73 miles on it, so far it still runs fine. I can say it's defintely broken in well by others.
You can also use the exta miles on the odometer as part of bargaining down the purchase price of the Z.

I Just bought an evo yesterday and it had 6 miles on it. keep in mind they have to do a safety check at the factory and then drive it off the ship when it arrives. then it gets trucked to the dealer. i would think anything under 10 should be fine.

If the dealer has done their job, they put a few miles on for inspection purposes. My 35th had 8 miles when I test drove it. I wouldn't worry about anything under 25 miles. It's a brand new car, with a warranty. BTW, 2 or 3 km would seem to be "optimistic" in my experience. I've bought 20 new cars and I think the lowest mileage I've ever seen on any of them was like 4 or 5. Several have still been wrapped in plastic... I would say average has been about 10-12.

Im assuming your being sarcastic but he's **** about everything. He told me when he orders a car that if its got more than 2 miles on it he wont buy it. Mine had 75 on it but it was a leftover.

a friend of mine used to work at an acura dealership in the service department and after taking them for a quick inspection they all had about 7 miles on them.
I was shocked when I went to test drive the g35c I was interested in seeing the Nav and they pulled one off the truck that still had plastic on the seats to let me test drive. I figured they would want to keep the miles down on those things.
