Anyone use Nissan's VPP?

I apologize if in advance if this is a repeat. I'm in the market for a Z and I have the opportunity to use Nissan's VPP (Vehicle Purchase Program) offered though my employer. It has its perks like being able to see the dealer invoice, and getting a small percent off of that, but it limits other things like negotiation entirely and doesn't allow for trade-ins.

Has anyone taken advantage of VPP and why did you choose that over negotiation?

Thanks!

I did, cheaper is the biggest reason, and you don't have to work so damn hard to try and get a good deal on dealers trying to **** you.... so yeah that is why. Plus, i plan on keeping this car for a long time, and eventually getting another car that I would trade in and out at my deciding, and use the Z as a second/weekend car....

but I also got my car when the Z was still new to the market, it should be easier to get better deals now then it was then.... :)

get a Z!!!

Thats all the reasoning I needed to hear. Did you have trouble finding a dealer that participated in the VPP? The VPP thing from my company made it sound like only select dealers would do VPP.

Thanks again.

My dealer offered me my 2005 Track Z's ~2000 under MSRP. But because my company is a direct electronics supplier to NISSAN, the VPP program saved me ~$1000 from my lease.

In reality, it also depends whether or not you're financing or leasing:
Since, I went for all the NISMO accessories, so I am paying a fortune every moth, but that was my choice.

Hope this helps.

I'm planning on going to financing route. I don't know if that makes a difference to the dealer.

I can't answer either of those questions, as I just payed cash. It wasn't hard to find a dealer that participates in the VPP program. just call a few and see if they do or not. Then find 3 or so and do business with them, you will be surprised that sometimes even though you use VPP you still get different prices from different dealers. That is my suggestion ;)

make sure you are also getting a good deal and the car that YOU WANT! don't let them say well, we can only do that on inventory cars and them not have the model/color you want.

I did my VPP on an 04 DB, and we dealer traded for it, because at the time it was the only DB 6speed base model available immediately in the US!!!!

I used VPP and you can trade your car in....you just have to tell them about the VPP up front so you don't negotiate some value for your trade only for them to find out they're going to be giving away the car at the VPP price.

I bought my Z using VPP...

You give them your VPP numbers and they give you a discounted price. You see everything on the paper.

They also allow trade-ins. But be sure to negotiate your price. First they told me they will give me $9k for my celica... finally they paid $12.6k.

Good luck with your Z.

I talked to several dealers. I was told that the dealer is not allowed to discount prices below the nissan listed price. I found a dealer that was willing to throw in a items to make the deal better. Drove away with a base 04 for 28K with aero pkg and the usual add ons.

I picked up my 35th anniv last month using the vpp... car had just a few basics so msrp was 37,600... vpp was below invoice at like 34,200... much easier than haggling!
