Advice on buying Used 350Z?!

First and foremost hello!:icon38:

I've been looking into used Z's for about 2 months, and so far I've found a lot of them. For the most part I've found them to be priced around $21,000 - $25,000, years are 2003-2005 and mileage is between 9000-30000 and yes this is for all models. Do these numbers seem befitting?

I dont care for a Navi system, I'm about 50/50 on leather, but I do want the brembo brakes. Does that narrow my options?

I'm 23yrs old, I currently own a 2000 Civic SI, but due to rate at which Civic are broken into,(mines been broken into 4X) stolen, and copied I've decided to sell it, please don't flame me for owing a civic.lol :o

Thanks in advance guy/gals for your help.

My friend had a 2000 Civic SI. That was the best Civic made until the 06' came out. He was running a custom turbo and doing 300 to the wheels. Could beat my stock Z anyday. Anyway if you want brembo brakes then you'd have no choice but getting the track model for 2003-2004, 2005 you'd have the option of 35th anniversary but you'd probably pay a higher premium and good luck finding anyone willing to sell one of theirs as its pretty limited (only 249 made). Now if you go with an enthusiast or base model, you can probably find a used one with 30-40k miles at around 18-19k and get an aftermarket big brake kit for another 4k which would work better than the stock brembos.

nice, I'm another 23 yr old lookin at the Z. But I drive a tiburon. I've been getting something similar for prices, but nothing has been over 15000 (which i find alot for cars that are under 2-4 yrs old. So ones that are around there I do not touch.
I know some members here sell their cars, I've checked out a few but nothing I am interested in. head off to the 'market place' and check the cars for sale section.

get a 2005 to avoid known issues with older models, i reccomend entusiast model to save money from the nav, but they don't come with bremo's , however, bremos are overated and unless you are going to run oval-track or something where you will lay on the breaks often at high speed your stocks are able to stop your car within about 3 feet at 100mph.

Know issues huh? What type of issues, are they major i.e. mechanical?

Tire feathering is the real common one, and there are also some tranny issues. Do a search on tire feathering and you'll have 4 months worth of reading ;)

maybe someone should also tell her those known problems were prevalent only in the 2003 models. The 2003 6mt has tranny problems (covered under factory warranty for 5 years/60k miles) and most 2003 models regardless of stick or manual have tire feathering problems (also under warranty). However, there are many people who have not had any problems. Get a 2004.5 to be safe. No need to get an 05, but thats up to you. Those problems were fixed in the 2004.5 models and up.

Feathering is the most common. 2004.5+ models supposedly have this fixed.

other things to look for, window grease, faulty stock amp, window motors not functioning, rear axles clicking, transmission problems.

go for an 05 or 06. the rev-up motor is far superior than the 287.

I have a 2005 Superblack 6 speed for sale. Low mileage, excellent condition, only selling it because I had a son 2 weeks ago and babyseats don't fit well in the Z....hehehe.

If you are interested, e-mail me at jdnassar@yahoo.com.
