Default 2004 350z Need Quick Response Please...

hey guys,
A local dealer here just got in an 2004 350z base w/ 14,000 miles on it (no scratches, dings, scrapes, and perfectly clean interior). It was rarely driven by an elderly school teacher. I've been thinking about this car for 3 weeks and would like to make a decision by tomorrow before I go back to my nursing classes. I'm assuming this car is an 04.5 because the vin is #JN1AZ34D04T164073.

I read the consumer reports all the way back from the 05 magazine and it seems that every year that went by, the 2004 z has received decreasing reliability ratings. After doing searches, it seems that people are having problem with the transmission, tire feathering, window motors, and oil consumption.

After test driving the car with the windows up, I noticed that the road noise is quite loud inside of the car compared to my 2005 wrx. I thought maybe it was just the tires making the road noise. As for the drive, it seemed smooth and problem free.

Overall after looking at consumer reports, it shows that the wrx is better than the 350z for reliability. But I like the z a lot and was wondering if you all think that the 2004 z will be reliable?

Ripken Stadium, Aberdeen, MD 11/2006

The 350Z is a performance sports car.

If you are interested in reliability, there are better choices.

Basically, i'm not looking for reliability as great as a Toyota. I'm looking for just the satisfaction of not having the z run into problems for a while. I just wanted opinions on whether or not this 04.5 would be a disaster or not. So what do you all think?

thanks

I have an 03 that has had all the problems, tranny, tire feathering, axle clicking, and etc... Warranty covered all of them, and it now has 85k miles problem-free.

It was rarely driven by an elderly school teacher.

what this really means is that it was driven by some 17 year old punk who dropped the transmission. Gotta love salesmen.

Yeah, those elderly school teachers always drive high performance sports cars.

well i'd like to thank you all for the input. In the end, I chose not to go with the 04.5. It was too much of a risk for me. I'll just wait for a newer model or buy brand new at the end of the year.

Once again thank you all

That's cool. You have to feel confident about buying a car - any car. Soon a 350Z will come along that suits your needs. Till then take care.
