Can I afford a 350Z?

Welcome to the site. As you know, there are a lot of factors to consider. Think of it this way, you will pay an average of $20 for every $1000 owed. You mentioned $450 worth of monthly bills, but you still have to pay for fuel, electricity, cable, cell phone, vehicle repairs, etc. How important is savings to you?
I know where you're coming from, and I think you can afford an older, higher mileage Z if your mind's set on it. However, would you really enjoy it if you have no money left going to savings, investments, or even modifications?

aside from the money you can get for your current car, do you have anything saved up? if you do I say go for it. If you have to finance the rest I would say keep your car until you save up some more. If you finance the rest you will be very tight on money.

Save up now, then pay cash. What are you afraid you can't afford? Insurance? Gas?
One other thing to consider - Will you have to drive the Z in the snow? If yes, then save up for some snow tires also.

I would say go for it...
You only live once and if you go over the finances the 350z is an amazing car to own. One thing I would do is think if you can live with a 2 seater with a small trunk. If you have children or will soon this is not a daily driver.
Even without kids the trunk and smaller cockpit of the z can be a hassle. I sometimes have a hard time fitting groceries in the trunk or even some boxes.
To the OP check out insurance BEFORE you buy. I think it will help you better imagine finances. For example mine went up, but it wasn't too much because I have a multi car policy discount now.

You have a lucky setup there at 19 ..But After reading all these comments I think these guys are steering you in the right direction.Just one bit on the insurance. Before I bought mine a couple months ago I had done a quote and the rep said I would be around $150 a month..Not too bad I think until the day I got the keys in my hand and I called them to put it on I was told 800+ for every 6 months..Asked him what about the quote I got..He said the vin wasnt in..Total bs..Do the math..smh..So I put it on and switched companies a month and a hlf later and now paying 971 for the entire year..
So just make sure your rep telling you the exact truth. But other than that you seem to be in a good position to pull the trigger. Good luck man

I did the quote with a 2005 350Z Vin # though ... But I can afford anything from $250ish but the lower the better and that $135 is an awesome price for me..
I mean, $150 is still expensive for an Accord :P

All of this for an auto? Save your money. It seems like things will be too tight with no room for play. There will always be a Z out there so what's another year or two when things are financially stable. I always say if you have to ask someone else if you can afford it...then you can't.

If you have to count $ each month, best to not spend more money on a car. All cars are terrible investments. You can always buy a nice car later.

like others said...it maybe tight...dont forget about maintience and rear tires almost every year 1/2..If you don't work on your car yourself, it can start to get expensive.
Also factor in gas isnt regular. Only pump premium which is an average of $3.60 roughly maybe more in your area. I pump once a a week when I reach half a tank so that's $25 a week.
Of course I'm going off of what I usually do but I'm pretty sure it will be similar

that insurance isnt accurate unless you give them a form of payment. Its always lower. I remember getting a quote for a C5 vette when all I had was a 91 Miata and the price dropped $80, that was before I gave them a form of payment. Unless they have a form of payment they cant run your motor vehicle report, which basically gives them the real price. If I were you I would find a vin from autotrader for a 350z, use it in your quote, then give them a form of payment (wont charge unless you click confirm at the end) and then youll find out what they will actually offer you for 6 months.
