Really? I ran a few cars on there (including mine) and it seemed to work?

Go to North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) and donate the minimum $5. Send me a screen shot of the donation and your vin via PM or Email. I will run your AUTOCHECK report later in the day when I get home.

I really don't understand this mentality. You can't spend $50 to ensure your purchase of a few thousand is a relatively safe buy?

If you can't afford to spend full price on a check, you obviously can't afford the car. Gahd.

I was simply curious as to what's on my report, because I had a minor front bumper accident last November, and had the driver's airbag inflate. Only real damage was the bumper cover and hood (other than the airbag and seat belts), and I wanted to see if my insurance company/body shop reported it. One would think an airbag incident, and the $6500 repairs would show up, right? Not that I've got any ideas about ever selling the car.

I tried vinaudit.com, and the report was 100% clean, so I can only wonder about the accuracy of such services.

I question carfax's veracity, too. Several years ago my wife bought a 2-year old Acura TSX from Carmax, which had a clean carfax report. Well, we got the car home, I crawl underneath to change the oil/filter, and see lots of paint overspay both front and rear, lots of missing fasteners, and fiberglass patch repair to the rear bumper cover. Of course, Carmax got the car back, but not without lots of threats from my side, and they continued to defend both carfax and their own inspection process. This was a one-time event, they assured us.

Now that is a fair reason to want a cheap auto check.

I have had some problems with mileage reported incorrectly so I know what you are talking about. Unfortunately we use a different company in Canada and I doubt their records would be great for American cars. I was just weighing in, thinking you were looking to purchase a new car.
