Possibly buying a 2006 Nissan 350z Rebuilt Title.
Basically I am a 20 year old college student who has always wanted a manual 350z. So I have been looking lately and stumbled upon a 350z which is located by a seller in the same city as myself. I went to meet up and take a test drive of course and really enjoyed the vehicle. However, the title was rebuilt due to a wreck that apparently created front body damage. This was several years ago and the current owner has had the vehicle for almost two years now and swears to have no issues with the vehicle what so ever. My uncle has a body shop so Friday the seller will be meeting me at the shop so my uncle can then take a look over the vehicle.
After taking the 350z for a test ride it appeared to sound in good condition and didn't hear or notice any mechanical issues.
I negotiated on his price and talked him down to his lowest sale point being 6,000$.
The vehicle is a 2006 Nissan 350z Manual 2dr Coupe with 90,750 actual miles on it.
He has receipts of changing oil every 3,000 miles since he has owned it and even had a new lifetime warranty clutch put into the vehicle a few months ago.
My question to the users of this forum would be if everything goes well and my uncle says it seems to be in good condition do you people believe this to be a good deal on a rebuilt title?
I will now post some pics below of the vehicle and a screenshot of the part of the vehicle report where it shows why the vehicle has the title it has (rebuilt).

Well depending on your uncles advice. Its up to you.
It could have been put together poorly or someone did it right..... looks like the bumper is missing a piece
Personally, I dont think a salvage title vehicle is worth more then 50% of the KBB good value. Thats assuming its repaired correctly.
Do you play to keep it? resale is always fun
Do you plan on modifying it? Buy top of the line parts that you know should bolt up and the bolt holes don't line up because the accident shift x piece.....
Are you paying cash or gonna make payments? Insurance will be headache.
How much basic upkeep needs to be done? Tires brake plugs and fluids add up quick.
I own 2 salvage title cars ...... both were repaired half assed. Its a fun full sized puzzle.

This topic has been covered many times before. A salvage title will always hurt your resale value and many insurers will refuse to offer coverage for one. Caveat Emptor on any salvage titled vehicle.

Call your insurance company and see if they will insure it, prepare for $1500 offers when you do get rid of it and $500 trade in. But if you plan to keep and mod it, it may pay off

Looks like it was rebuilt right. I'd have your uncle check the frame make sure it was fixed correctly if it needed it. Also does he have an alignment report. My friend bout a bmw that was in a wreck And the alignment was botched and needed to be worked on a lot to fix it.

If everything checks out it would be a decent deal, you always take a risk buying a car with rebuilt title, even having it checked out there may be something that you dont notice. The price is decent for the year and mileage and low enough to risk it about the rebuilt title, I personally don't think I'd go for it due to the risk, but if he were to lower the price anymore it wouldn't even be worth selling..

There will ALWAYS be cars for sale. There will always be a better deal. Don't rush buying something you're having second thoughts on. That should be a red flag already.
Hold out until you find what you want in your price range that doesn't have a rebuilt title. The right car is out there, it just might take a little longer than you want to find. Consider it a luxury that you don't have to purchase the first one that comes along.
You'll be happier and have peace of mind at the end of the day. You won't have issues insuring it, and if you ever have to resell, you won't have to go through the hassle of explaining the rebuilt title.
Don't make the sellers day because your antsy to get into a 350.

for 6k and the mileage I would think it's a pretty good deal...it sounds like your uncle has some insight on it and if he says it's good I would do one more step of investigation and have a 3rd party/independent mechanic look it over before you sign your name...have a nissan mechanic (not a dealership) look it over and if they say it's solid than go for it - it'll be a deal for you...but with any salvage title vehicle you are pretty much locked in for life because you'll never get anything for it down the road and at most you'll get liability insurance only...but hey, you'll have a killer deal on a 350!
