Default Maybe buying my first 350z, need insight!

http://tampa.craigslist.org/hil/cto/5761824294.html

2006 350z 6MT, 01/06 build date and redline at 7k rpm so Rev-up? I owned an 06 5AT G35 (70k miles no problems) so I have some knowledge of the VQ35DE.

That being said, are there any issues I should look for? The seller said he'll take $6k cash, does that sound reasonable? I ran an autocheck and it came back clean, 3 owners.

Thanks!

Probably burns more oil than a 60s muscle car, but that price is pretty damn reasonable.

Oooo just looked at the add... Base model, probably burns pil, bumper paint doesn't match, interior looks like crappola... Are those the right sized tires?

Is this the guy selling it?

Yeah you're right, I thought I could replace the interior pieces that look like sh*t. Thanks for the reply. After doing some detective work, the 1111 e cass st on google maps takes me to an auto repair shop, and the green lines on the ground match exactly where the pictures were taken.

How's this one? http://tampa.craigslist.org/hil/cto/5773057230.html

First, make up your mind if you want an auto or manual trans. Second car looks better, but is an AT, and '06 is the riskiest year to buy.

I'm not too worried about the trans, MT may be more fun but the AT is more practical/comfortable for city driving.

Why is it the riskiest? Because of the oil consumption issue on 6MT revups?

You're right about the trans. Mine is a 6MT and it sucks in traffic on I275, but I don't find myself in traffic often. Yes, the oil consumption is a real issue, but not all '06 cars have it. Buying from an honest private seller would be a nice, but rare, circumstance.

Do you think 100k miles is too much? I've never owned a vehicle past 90k.

All depends on the maintenance. If you bought a 100k car from me, it would look showroom-new. None of mine are for sale, though.

I bought a 06/MT
When new it did burn oil - Nissan replaced the engine under warranty
The owner lived in the country and commuted to the city
It had 250,000km on the clock when I bought it - engine in great condition
The owner was fastidious, changed the oil every 5,000km, service stamps all over the inside and outside of the owners service book

The transmission was well worn and loose

I wouldn't really want an automatic, and im guessing the resale on one is a little more difficult as well. Thats a nicer model car and brickyard is the best factory color IMHO... It's got the sweet steering wheel controls...

I love how they mention almost nothing about the car but say new window motors and door handles... Sooo awesome you fixed the **** that always breaks recently... Does it come with tires and wheels too... Awesomeness

And that always try and sugar coat the automatic...

What I find interesting - but not at all unusual - is that A/T cars tend to seemingly be less thrashed. It's the demographic of the original buyer it seems. See that a LOT with Z/G cars.

Very true. Probably because any true enthusiast (Im my honest and humble opinion), that will drive the car hard like it should be driven, would never buy a z with an auto tranny. That's for grannies and young girls that can't drive stick.....
I know I know, I'm being stereotypical, let's blame it on the monday blues

gotta say- i bought an 05 touring AT- sure i love a MT -however- - when i first saw and then bought the car almost a year ago, it was a 1 owner, each and every scheduled maint done at correct intervals at same dealership where it was originally sold, absolutely no mods done. then after buying it- pretty much determined it was a red headed female that wore a jangly bracelet on her right wrist, who could not wait to change the song on the radio, and had long hair, that owned it. oh yeah- there was curb rash to the wheels, and some minor damage to nose -either from her pulling in to close or another bad parker.

so yeah- you are correct in saying that AT vs MT can make a difference.
(cuz i looked at quite a few MTs here first- and they had alsorts of in your face issues going on....)
