What's the Zaino Coat Limit?

I have just switched to Zaino...wish i had been using it forever. The car looks fierce!

I have about 10 coats on right now...is it worth it to keep putting coats on? I mean how much better can it possibly look? if I put 10 more coats will it be twice as wet looking?

Or is one coat every other week and daily Z6ing enough to maintain this?

Dr. Bonz is near 90 coats.

There is no limit as far as I know.

With 10 coats you'd be good for a long time if you're just worried about durability.

If you just like polishing your car (some do, some hate it), there is no limit to how many coats you want to apply for fun, but there is a limit of diminishing returns after 4 or 5 coats........

I don't know but my arm is hurting from putting Zaino on the car. About 42 and counting.

i think it gets better with every layer, but i zaino my car twice a week. I noticed a bit of a difference between 5 layers and 30.

I hate to sound like a dumb-azz, but where can I get this Zaino that everyone is ranting about. Several of my buddies here in Houston swear by it.
Sorry to be so slow :o

I beg to differ. I always thought the same until I saw Dr. Bonz' car last year, especially next to other cars of the same color. Maybe the point is somewhere after 25 coats, but I know that his 50+ coats definitely looked better than the other cars, some of which had zaino, but not as much.

may not have been the just fact that Bonz(zaino jedi) had more coats...but maybe how they were applied, conditions, etc...not only the product that provides a good finish but the person applying as well

And don't forget the prep work, which is critical in achieving the optimum results, whether using Zaino or not.

I also have a lighter color (liquid aluminum) so i'm never going to have a mirror like finish...right now after 10 coats it is a wet deep shine. Just wondering if I could get away with a few coats every few weeks to keep it like this. I don't want to spend 5 hours a week cleaning my car.

Keep those layers coming!! Just remember no more than 3 coats (using ZFX) every 24 hours. You can use all the Z6 & Z8 you want though.

I'm only at 29 coats but it's obvious (at least with Brickyard) the more I apply the better the color gleams. It almost looks like there's more matalic then paint in the color. It just pops out at you. Looking at doc's car gives me even more to look forward to.Compare this pic to anyone of the ones in his post and I think you'll see a difference (29 vs 84 coats).

Man sounds like some of you guys spend an entire day just waxing eh? How long does it take some of you guys to apply/buff one coat? I'm thinking of spending a saturday applying a few coats myself, mostly for weather protection and durability, but affraid my arm might fall off heh.

1 coat? depending on weather, no more than 1 hr and most of that is drying time. It takes about 5 minutes to apply 1 coat. I usually let it dry for 30 minutes minimum before removing.

The key is applying it very thin. If you put it on to heavy it will take much longer to dry plus you're just waisting it.

Art Vandaleigh May 11, 2005 01:30 PM

Yea just curious for one coat. I'm fairly inexperienced in proper waxing tips, but my SB gets filthy so fast that ive been spending a considerable amount of time keeping it clean. Ive been using NXT wax, applying it by hand and buffing with microfiber towels, but seems like just one application/polish takes a good 1-2 hours. So using a thin coat, applying it rather quickly, then adding layers works good?
