Is Meguir's Scratch X good for fine scratches?

I've got a bunch of scratches that are not too deep.

What's the deal on this product? Does it work?

how fine are fine scratches

I have not had great success. I have used it on areas that were damaged by bird droppings after I cleaned the droppings off to buff up the paint. I suppose it depends on how deep the fine scratches are and your out of luck if your nail can detect the defect. Meg Scratch x may also be good for swirls

I'm just trying to debate on spending the money on a Porter Cable or if I can just get by with some kind of polisher to remove the scratches. The scratches are not deep at all. My nail cannot detect the scratch.

I borrowed some from a guy at a car wash and it worked like a charm on my slight scratch and paint marks that some bozos left on my car after they tried to ding it in a parking lot...I haven't tried it on a regular scratch though....

Its pretty good. Fixes most fine to medium scratches. If you want to try it on bird droppings that etched into your gloss, use 3M fine rubbing compound followed by scratch X. You will see it get a little dull after the 3M, but no worries, follow up with scratch X and wax and it'll be brand new.

I just tried Scratch X and it did nothing to get rid of my scratches. Guess I'll have to get the porter cable.

Hmm...wonder if it works better on some colors than others? I've used it on my PPW and had great results, but my husband tried it on his CS and it didn't do much at all. I see that your car is also CS.

Makes light scratches better. Seldom do they go away. Good for what it does. Not for big scratch repairs.

The Meguir’s ScratchX product will fill and hides light scratches, but will reappear as you wash your car. If you want to completely remove scratches you will need a dual action porter cable or circular polisher device along with a proper cutting pad & Meguir’s machine glaze.
