3M's Clear Bra

Hi guys,

I just got my new 06 Daytona Blue MT Enthusiast. I do a lot of track driving events and thinking of getting a clear bra for my Z. I used to track my old Acura RSX-S and the front bumper has burnt rubber from tires, paint chips and little dings on it. I don’t want the same abuse to happen to my Z.

Has anyone here used the 3M Clear Bra? If so, is it worth it?

Inputs are highly appreciated. Thanks!

Where did you get yours done? Any recommendations? Thanks again!

Had mine done 3 years ago by Rob Freeman owner of Proform. He's an instructor for installers on the East Coast. Since your in NOVA he is close. They even come to your place to do it if you have a garage.

Highly Recommend them.

I've had my 3M bra on for over 3 years & over 30 HPDE's. HIGHLY recommended! Beats the H*ll out of that ugly painters tape some drivers use! :icon16:

Clearbra was my first "mod"..... and worth every penny....if I had to do it over again, I would do it the same way.

how much is it for the front bumper? my nismo kit is getting rocked chipped up the @ss. a small paint crack too...think im going to repaint it and get a clear bra

It has been a while, but I do not think I paid over $500 for a full bumper, fender and side view mirrors.......you can search the forum for prices paid.

Be aware that there are a number of companies that make the covering, so unless you specify you want "3M" clearbra you may get another brand....do a googgle search on auto films or coverings.

Last year I had am '03 Track and this year I bought an '04 roadster. My roadster has the clear bra on it and it makes a world of a diffrence. My track had all kind of tiny marks, nicks, and crap on the front end when you looked close, but my roadster is flawless at 13,000 mi. I highly recommend getting it done, especially on a nice car you care about. I also put one on my wife's 05 altima this year. There are always local shops that do it, just find a good one. I had my hood, bumper headlights, mirrors and splash gueards all done for $600 and it looks perfect. Hope that helps.

I paid about $175.00 for a full front kit for my car. Includes the hood and mirrors too. First off i have a bad back (broke it in a motorcycle wreck 3 years ago) and i installed this thing myself and came out with very good results, but it took me 7 hours and a few vicodin.

How i did the huge front piece, which is one giant piece, i completely cleaned the entire hood of the car and the front fenders along with the front bumper with rubbing alcohol and then sprayed it down with the slip solution (baby shampoo and water) i placed the piece on the hood and slowly worked it down over the bumper, what a pain but i am so glad i did it, looks awesome (because you can't see it!) If you want some pointers, just hit me up adam@evolimports.com

I came accross xtremecity.com and they sell kits on Ebay for super cheap. Obviously not as good as the 3M product, but just wondering if anyone has used the off brand, cheap film and what they think? Since they don't have a reserve I won a bid at ten bucks for everything... hood, bumper, mirrors, etc.

Thanks, the bid I won said it came with all of that. Lots of small print on there though. So is this film even worth getting or should I stick with the 3M?

Thanks for the input guys! I really appreciate it! I requested a quote from a guy who works for:

www.ExoticAutoConcepts.com
www.EuroAutoConcepts.com

The price that he quoted me for are as follows:

$499 installed for hood and bumper.
$749 complete kit (hood, bumper, mirror, fenders, headlights).

I'm still going to shop and see if there is a better deal.

I highly recommend 3M brand. It has a clearcoat which makes it glossy. I saw lesser brands and they look dull.

HarvesterUT Dec 16, 2005 06:11 PM

just use the black nose bra if you track. the clear bra is a waste IMO

mutock Dec 16, 2005 06:52 PM

ITK,

Stay far away from that ebay film.

ltk Dec 17, 2005 09:29 AM

Mutock, you run into some problems using it? Can you tell me more?
