Umm... a claybar should NOT give you paint swirls if used properly. If you're making swirls with a claybar, I'd suggest you take it to a professional or learn the proper way. Yes, ScratchX can remove swirls by hand, but it would require A LOT of effort if you wanted to do the whole car that way. ScratchX offers great results by hand, but nothing beats polishing with a PC Orbital.

yea but im scared s**tless from using an orbital polisher. no im dont plan on getting swirls from the claybar...but swirls that already exist on the car

Yeah, I agree w/ highside. You def. should NOT get swirls using the claybar. Are you using the car soap/water in the spray bottle as a lubricant? The claybar should SLIDE along the surface of the car. The fine swirls in your clearcoat can be taken out w/ Step 1 of the Meguiar's cleaning system "paint cleaner" then you can go to your fine polishes/waxes. If you already have Zaino on the car, I would order more Z2 and Z5. Do two coats of the Z5 with the Z6 in between and after, then follow up w/ two applications of Z2, again w/ Z6 between coats and after. You will/should have a car show shine.

would nxt be ok to use after step 1

Orbital polisher as in "Porter Cable Random Orbital", correct? If that's what you have then I wouldn't worry about messing up your car. Those things are dummy-proof! (seriously)

Sorry, can't help with NXT... don't know much about it.

Being a noobie on this as well I have had fantastic results with the Meguiar products.
Here's what I've been doing:
Wash car
Use Quick Detailer with Microfiber towels
Use Scratch X on a few minor scratches ( I only had to do that once)
Use Bug/Tar Remover for it's purpose if needed to...
If you need to clay use the clay bar with Quick Detailer as a lubricant
Use Polisher with an Even Coat Applicator (if you have a dark car)
Use Quick Wax

Use Quick Interior Detailer for the interior

Quick Detailer also works well on the Wheels and Hot Shine Tire Foam for the Tires

Use Invisible glass for all the glass surfaces

My car has never looked better!

Try Griot's, I have their detailer's handbook and machine polishing DVD with the PC polisher (amazing piece of detailing equip). Good information for the beginner in the book and DVD. I think Eastwood has a similar detailing DVD. Get some info. before doing anything to mess up your paint.
Also, don't mix and match. Wait for your zaino order, not my choice, but hey. If you do mix, get your Dawn dish soap out and strip everything down next time you detail.
