Zaino on wheels and windows?
OK, all you crazy Zaino freaks got me on the bandwagon, and I should be getting my starter kit in the mail next monday.
Couple questions: 1. I picked up some top of the line "Egyptian 100% spun cotton" towels at Foleys. pretty nice quality. NOT cheap. Will these work fine for buffing Z-2 and Z-5 off the car? WHere is the best place to buy the DFT towels other than the direct website? 2. Do you guys put Zaino on the windows and wheels? I have RainX, but what do you guys recommend? Thanks |
Get the DF towels. They are REALLY nice for buffing. I'd use the other ones you got maybe for drying?
Don't know where else you'd get them other than the web site. I think there are a couple members who are regional vendors for the DF towels though. I use the Z-2 on my wheels regularly. It won't prevent brake dust but it makes it a lot easier to wash it off. I use the Z-6 on my windows and it works great. I have seen some members use the Z-2 polish on the glass and they seem to like it but I have no experience with this. |
Does the Z-6 works like Rain-X on the window?

I never used Rain-x but with the Z-6 it does zip right off at high speeds if it isn't raining too hard. No need for the wipers.
The up side is that the Z-6 keeps the window SUPER clean and doesn't smear or haze at all. It is VERY easy on and off. |
I wax EVERYTHING but the tires. rims; windows, antenna, EVERYTHING. I just find it simple... IMO comparing rainX to zaino is like comparing zaino to blackfire. I cant tell the difference; I stick to what I have and know. it does bead just the same as it will on the rest of the car. doesnt affect the wiper action from what Ive seen(tho with wipers; its duration is cut, but that goes the same for rain X)
Ive heard (no personal experience) that rainX cuts the life of your wiper blades... I dont know the basis for this; or if its true. and Id imagine the same might hold true for zaino if its true at all. I dont really let it bother me; my setup is going strong after a year. so its not too detremental. |
I use the Zaino polish on the glass and wheels as well.

I am a DF towel distributor as well as a Zaino distributor, have both in stock. I carry the medium and large size DF towels.
Z-2 and Z-5 are to be applied to any hard smooth surface, glass, chrome, polished metal, paint, etc..... Once the Z-2 or Z-5 is on the glass you can maintain it with the Z-6. |
Thanks for all the replies guys... Since I have both Rain-x and Zaino(arriving Monday), I'll try both. But definitely the zaino on the wheels.
OK, last question: which Zaino on the wheels? Z-6? |
Z6 is just a detail spray; gloss enhancer maybe. but it is not an actual wax.
use Z2 or Z5 on the rims; if you want you can use Z6; but I dont really see the point. |
I use Z-2 on the wheels.
|
I use CG for my wheels :P and Zaino for the body :)
|
I use Z-2 on wheels, but seemed to have problems getting Z-2 COMPLETELY removed from the glass. Got some Z-12 (glass polish) for Christmas, and wow, just like all the other Zaino products, it's easy to use and works even better than I expected. It even "showed up" then quickly polished away the areas where the "Z" stickers were placed on the upper part of my windshield (previous owner). So I've switched to Z-12 for all glass.
|
Use either z-2 or Z-5 on the wheels whether painted, polished, chrome, etc, it does not matter to protect. Use the Z-7 to wash them and then use the Z-6 to spot clean the brake dust off in between washes if you want your car spotless every time you drive it.

I've got a question for all the detailing guru's. What do you use to clean the chrome exhaust tips??? Zaino??? I should start using it on my kitchen floor heheheh :D
|
i use only z5 and z6 on the car.. i have nevere need to use my windshield wipers.. the water just beads right off.. i also have limo tint so waxing th windows is a must :)
for the chrome exhuast tips i bought eaglef1 ? aluminum polish.. works really well |
Dang,
put Rain-x on the windows a few days ago... Looks great until you actually use the wipers (and the wiper fluid). Now I have massive streaks, or maybe I should call it a haze from the residue of the windshield washer fluid. Maybe I'll use dawn and take off the Rain-x and put Z5/Z6 on the windshield. |
This is in response to the tailpipes-I use Dupont Chrome polish on cool pipes and let it dry well before removing.
