Anyone try the new Mother's Speed Clay 2.0?
 

As the title asks, anyone try this stuff yet? Seems to good to be true, almost, as it looks to be so much quicker and easier to use than a regular clay bar. In fact, it doesn't even seem to be a clay bar. My old BMW is metallic black, so I'm very careful with its paint.

i have seen more and more products like this pop up lately, guess i am just old fashioned and will stick to with what i know

Looks like a glorified sanding block. What happens if a piece of sand gets pushed around from that thing?!
I would stick to the clay bar.

I think I'll stick with Mother's yellow clay for now. Mag Black isn't a good Ginea Pig color. I also seal with BlackFire Wet Diamond, and don't find near the level of contaminants I used to pull off.

That's my concern, too, especially when I see the video of it being used while the car is being washed. I can just imagine the dirt being dragged across the paint and adding millions of swirl marks. With clay, I can always have a fresh surface for each area I'm doing. I guess I'll stick with the clay, which has long been proven to work well and be relatively-safe for paint.

Griot's Garage clay bar because it comes in a nice case. That and Griot's Speed Shine as a lubricant works great together. I wouldn't use a Mother's clay bar 2 since it appears you can't fold and knead it back on itself.

Just got one today and will give it a try. I've used Mothers Products on my car since it was new and have always been impressed.

I'll give some feedback on the Speed Clay; doesn't look fancy, just a 3/8" thick oval shaped black textured spongy rubber material attached to a red plastic back for grip. Says it can be used on a pre-cleaned wet paint surface or can be used on a pre-cleaned paint surface using a top quality spray detailer or spray wax as a lubricant, then microfiber cloth buff.

I just got through doing my entire pass. side and am impressed. I already had a mothers wash mitt (don't need a mitt). As per instructions just had a bucket of sudsy water and washed it on that side well, rinsed it off, got a bucket of clean water and dipped the thing into water to keep each area lubed wet.

I just lightly did horizontal lines top of door to bottom of side skirts and f+r fenders; did the speed clay unit a second time (very easy to use). Then wiped it all dry with soft cotton towel.

I had ordered a bottle of Mothers california gold showtime spray detailer with the speed clay so I got a microfiber cloth (mothers) and sprayed detailer on one area at a time, wiped off well and when done went over the whole pass side with microfiber cloth. Did it all in approx. 20 min.

*I've never used the real clay products before so I can't compare, but that entire side of my car went from an already clean/waxed/shiny look to a mirror like look. I checked it out from different angles and it looks like there is a glass finish to the paint! I must give a thumbs up on this product; that spray detailer (good stuff) would be good just for a quick detail of your car, etc. I'll post a pic/s once I get around to finishing the entire car! :thumbup:

Thanks for the update. Sounds like it worked pretty well for you, and AFAIK, Mother's has always made quality products.

Did every bit of the car with the speed clay, then applied some mother's carnuba paste wax and buffed it all up.

I'll get it out for some better close up pics, but it's 110 degrees! I thought that I'd try to get a couple of close up pics as car sits in covered driveway of original paint looking down pass. side door; hood paint is a few yrs. old. The roof is like a mirror and the pics had too many reflections so I didn't add that one for now.

Anyway, not great pics but may give a sample of it; the whole car's paint looks way nice. The Mother's product would be worth a try to some of you; worked great on my car.

Holy Chit, looks amazing and how did I miss that hood?

Look, pretty damn nice. I've been using the Sonax wax on my cars, and it's the best shine and longest lasting stuff I've found so far. I'm also in a hot climate, and the Mothers carnauba just burns off literally in days in the sun here.


It's also one of the easiest waxes to apply. It's got the consistency or whole milk, so you just wipe it on and wipe if right off. Almost like one of those quick detailed waxes, but it lasts for months. My BMW is metallic black, and it's tough to find something for,that color. My
