Sparkman's virgin Zaino Experience

Well.. after reading all the great things about Zaino, I broke down, and bought the Zaino kit, and tried it for my self.

My steps were:

1) Dawn
2) Z-18 Claybar
3) Z-7 Carwash
4) Z-5
5) Z-6
6) Z-2
7) Z-6
8) Run inside because it was about to rain.

I didn't see much benifit after doing the claybar. I've only had the car four weeks, so maybe it was overkill in my case. Not much residue on the claybar at all.

Um.. As far as how the car looks, I don't see a HUGE difference between the finish after the wash with Dawn, and the final Z-6 application.
The biggest difference, is really how the finish feels. Its as smooth as a baby's bottom. I actually had my hands slip off the trunk when I was trying to close it. :)

However, I must say the car looks great, and the zaino products were easy to use. I plan to do another wash, z-2, z-6, and mabye another z-2, z-6 if I can fit it in before Saturday's meet at Evo.

Pictures to follow very shortly.

I know the back ground is different. I had to move the car because my wife wanted me to wash her BMW, too. I didn't zaino it, but that may be my next project. She has a deep blue color, and I've read that Zaino works best on dark cars.

You know, as I go back through these pictures, I do notice a definate improvement overall, I'd have to say I do like the Zaino products, but I think it'll take a couple of more coats before I attach any pictures of Yoda to my signature ;)

I like to throw on a coat of Z5 with every 3-4 applications of Z2. Are you using ZFX? I see you have a garage. You now know how easy Zaino products are to apply and remove. Try applying a coat of Z2 without ZFX, leave it in the garage to dry for 8-10 hours, even longer, remove and the finish with Z6. WOW.

VERY NICE pictures and roadster by the way!

Sorry.. I was using ZFX with both applications of Z5 & Z2.

Thanks for the suggestion.. Maybe I'll put on a coat of Z2 without the ZFX on friday evening, and then buff it off Sat. Morning.

And thanks! She's a beaut!

HEY! I thought I was the only one who had "Zaino Experiences"! :)

Looks good. Not that it is critical, but you should probably have hit it with a Z-6 misting BEFORE you did any of your Z-5 or Z-2. The Z-6 really does a nice job of prepping the paint for your polish. Then you do a layer of Z-6 between your layers of polish (Z-2 or Z-5).

Did you notice that AFTER you did the dawn and clay, that the car no longer beaded water? That is what you want. It tells you that you got everything off down to the paint before you start all of your hard work.

Keep up the good work and soon: Smile upon you Yoda will!

Hey Doc, I've Been Experienced!!!!!!!!!!:icon4: :icon04: :icon4: :icon04: :icon4: :icon04: :icon4: :icon04:

I was kinda like Sparkman, first time thru: Dawn,Claybar,Z7, Z6,Z5,Z6. Wore out on my butt after about 4hrs. I wasn't disappointed with the results because I could see an improvement, but it wasn't anything close to your finish. Then after only about 200 miles, I decided to do it again. Z7,Z6,Z2,Z6, 3beers, not quite as tired, only took2hrs. This time I think the improvements are obvious. Don't tell anyone, especially my wife, but I really enjoyed all that manual labor. She wants me to do her Tahoe and my Burb, you know how much more sheet metal there is there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any way, heres some before (w/Z5 only) and afters (w/Z2).
