I knew I shouldn't have gotten a Black Z
 

Maintaining a black car clean sucks. I need advice, I have two black cars, those marks and lines that just keep appearing every second, especially on the Z. It looks good a certain angles, but if you look up close, oh my god. I want to solve the problem now before it gets worse. From reading on the board, Zaino and Crystal Guard are products recommended, which one should I go for?

Get a Zaino kit and follow the instructions. My black Roadster is awsome, not a swirl mark on it. I can clean my car in about 15 minutes now and it looks great.

Now, it still shows dust and dirt like crazy, but at least it doesn't take hours of work to make it shine again. I also bought a car cover and use it regularly.

porter cable and a good polish...cover polish with a sealer of your choice (wax or polymer)

Which kit should I get? I will need it for a SB roadster and an suv.

Zaino sells a kit for $84.70 that has what you need. It is called "Zaino Total Protection SHow Car Kit", ZKIT-1.

to fix the marring that you have now sounds like you would need a medium grade polish applied with a PC

if you are not really in the mood to spend hours detailing or you dont really have experience with a PC you can do 1 of 2 things

1. learn
2. get it professionally detailed, and tell them that you want to maintain it yourself using zaino

they will polish it and top it with zaino by request and then all you need to do is add more zaino coats and get some GOOD TOWELS--towels are possibly the most important factor when dealing with swirl marks on black cars

I would recommend you go the PC route. I'm actually just doing my car now. Professional detailers don't care enough about your car to do a good job with a circular action polisher. They will make it worse.

Use some 3M Finesse-It or 3M Swirl Mark Remover for Dark cars first, then finish it off with your favorite wax (Zaino in my case). It's much easier to remove as much of the swirling with polish than to just cover it up with multiple coats of Zaino.

I've actually had the same problem before. So here's what I did:

1. Invest in good towels to dry you car. Big Blue Towel seems to be best with my experience. You can find them at www.properautocare.com

2. Get microfiber towels for buffind and detailing. Never use anything else other than microfiber.

3. Buy Zaino. I also do suggest the Kit. Do the whole procedure, and make sure you follow it. I suggest at least 2 coats of Z5 and 3 coats of Z2.

4. If you are really serious about removing the swirls and have extra cash lying around do what I did. Get a Porter Cable 7424, Menzerna Itensive and Final Polish, some pads. I think the whole thing cost me about $300 or so.

5. Follow all the steps, wash, polish, use zaino, etc... you will definetely see some results. Most of the swirl will be removed and you will get a beatiful finish.

6. Most importantly not to get your swirl back, always have clean towels when drying or washing your car. Also use a microfiber wash mitt and make sure you rinse it regularly while washing the car.

Trust me it's worth the 8 hours of labor and the $300 dent in your pocket.

I found the PC 7424 on ebay for $112. Proper Auto Care Sells a nice kif for $50 with all the pads and a quick release backing for $50.00, and they have a wide variety of polishes and compounds for you to take a look at.

My car is particularly bad in some spots (i let a "professional" detailer use a circular polisher) so I'm gonna start with a 1500 grit compound as I stated earlier.

If you give the guys at proper auto care a call they will field all your questions. They're very knowledgable and helpful.

if you dont want to DIY then go to autopia and ask around for autopian detailers in your area....you wont be dissappointed
