Finally got my 11's!!

11.82 @ 118 finally with my MRC, APS STOCK Block 350... Retuned it on thursday to 400 whp and 395 tq and raised the boost form 6lbs to 9lbs... The car feels amazing. Only other mods besides the APS kit include a UR crank pulley, test pipes, and a Injen exhaust.. I had a few other runs but pulled out of them due to the car feeling hairy.. First time out with this setup and was playing with tire pressure... my dyno chart is posted on 350-tech but was too large to post here... I will also post the time slip in a few, once I dig it out..
Thanks,
Jason

Congrats that is awesome. What kind of dyno did you hit those #'s on? And what was your 60ft? Nice job, that is very impressive.

Those #'s were on a dynojet, but a very conservative one. Considering that my base pull with 6lbs netted me around 350 whp, and the last base pull I did on a mustang dyno netted me 383 or so... And usually dyno jets net higher numbers... Anyway, it was all about the gains, not the final numbers. By turning up the boost from 6lbs to 9lbs, and retuning the fuel and timing, I gained 50 whp and 60lbs of Tq with even greater gains through the midrange.. Here are the numbers from my timeslip... Note the crappy 60' also.. I had a few other 12.00 runs but I got off the gas early due to too low aire pressure... And one of those 12.00 runs I had even had a 1.89(ouch) 60'.. Now that I have a better feel of what the tire pressure should be, I feel that i should be able to hit 11.6's .... Here is the slip...

R/T ... .236
60' ... 1.781
330 ... 5.015
1/8 ... 7.663
mph ...92.79
1000 .. 9.925
1/4 ... 11.825
MPH.. 118.36

That is great, Im surprised it went that fast with that 60ft. What tire pressure did you finally end up running?

I started off around 15 lbs and ended up running them around 17 or so... The car is a beast to drive! and a blast!! I had one run which I pulled a 12.0 and coasted through in 4th, didn't even shift into 5th.. Car felt very loose so I let off. If I could of held on, I'm sure that would of been a 11.7 or maybe even 11.6,, and that was with a 1.73 60'.. I also had a 12.0 run with a 1.89 60' that I coasted through as well... I am running the same tires as last year. 26.10.5 MT et street.... I am also only lauching at 3k to save my axles.. I should get back out to the track within the next few weeks...

What psi did you run those e.t. street n/a when you were going 13.0 ? I bet that car feels really loose at those speeds compared to 103 traps, lol. 118 mph is sweet.

LOL! Yea the car definately feels different.. I always run 15-18lbs in those tires... Wasn't really a windy night either, car just felt VERY loose on the top end of the track and I let off on my 1st 3 runs... then I increased the psi by a few and thats when I was able to stay on it... I only had 1 more run after that and had a horrible launch so I didn't even bother staying on it and beating up the car!.lol I was expecting to trap around 116 or so,, very happy with the 118. And lets remember, this car is NOT setup for drag racing.. I had 19's on the front, my AZZ weighs almost 250, and I have it lowered with Eibachs, so their is no transfer of weight... I am pretty happy considering I have 70,000 miles on the car and 10k on the turbos already..

Yeah I just recently got some slicks, and was messing around with them. With my JIC's on full soft I still couldnt get the car to squat and go you know. You picked up 4mph from last time I heard of you running the APS kit when you went 12.1 I believe. What are your next plans as far as mods go? Rebuild the bottom end? More boost? Congrats with everything. Is it hard to tune that Unichip the APS kit comes with? You guys at MRC tune it yourselfs?

Yes, my previous best time with the same setup b4 tuning was a12.10 @114.. Same tires and mods. We use IDA Auto for all of our tuning. Bob Ida, builds some of the sickest cars around and actually builds all of Fords Sema trucks.... He has been tuning the Unichip for many years... All piggybacks are very similar as far as tuning.. You have the timing map(scales) and the fuel map, and then your boost level voltage.. Basically we added some fuel, turned up the boost, and then played with timing a little to get our desired results... Next for the car is an Apex-i Avcr so I can control boost in a closed loop. That boost controller also allows for gear dependant boost control, which I want to play with at the track... Other than that, not really doing much right now.. Probably do some suspension and stiffening mods to the rear, to minimize strain on the axles.. And I am hoping to keep this motor running all summer and maybe do a swap next winter... This is my daily driver with 70k on it already!! :p

Cool, ever think about upgrading those axles ? 70K miles wow, I thought I had a lot at 45k. I know you post on the other Z boards, but keep us posted on your progress over here, nice to see somebody pushing the APS kit to more than its out of the box limits.

I am actually leeping it pretty conservative at 400hp. I think it has more but I want to put some miles on it with this current setup.. We should have Jullians car tuned within a week or so and thats with the built bottom end... Probably going to push around 550 with that for a while... And then we are going to start with ZXRages car soon.. That will be the beast, shooting for 800+whp.!

JonsilvZ Mar 21, 2005 04:08 PM

Nice! Now the hp wars begins!

FairladyZ Mar 21, 2005 09:46 PM

very nice, congrats. Do you drive around town on 9lbs?

YUP!!! Actually hit almost 10 around town.. The car is extremely easy to drive. You can drive it as easy as you want with no problems but as soon as you get on it, just takes off like a beast!!
