Hey guys, just wanted to share an idea I finnaly did - I ran some wiring to the brake fuse (located in the front driver's side of the passenger compartmet) and conected it to a switch mounted in the center consul (it's where the heated seats switches would have been - but since I have an enthusiast, it's just an empty panel)

Now I can easily switch off the brake fuse and do burn outs, then switch it back on...I always had a hard time in putting the fuse back in after going to the drags b/c by the time I finished, it was always dark.

I used a 'add a circuit' kit from Auto Zone, but had to modify (I had to solder a extra wire) it to run it with a simple on/off switch. In the end, it was about $10 plus about 2 hours.


*If you do this, just remember that if you leave the switch off, your brake lights won't be working!!

**Sorry no pics - I'm in the middle of a move to Seattle. Luckily we had a moving company do everything, so I had extra time to do this install, but the camera was already packed.

BTW what wires did you tap what did you solder what had to be done im very intrested since im Automatic and this would be a great mod.

several people did this quite a while ago. There was someone on here selling these kits, you might want to do a search.
I did mine myself, doesn't take long.
I don't use mine anymore though since I got line locks now.

Note: if you forget to turn it back on your cruise control will no longer work.

Yea i just want to know what wire to tap he already said what switch he is using. I just want to know that so i can do it myself.

next to the clutch pedal is the fuse panel, find the fuse that says Brake light or stop light fuse
you replace that fuse with an add a circuit, drill out a new fuse connect two wires to each site add an inline fuse into the new cicuit and a toggle switch, then you place that fuse into the add a circuit fuse holder.

toughest part is drilling out the little fuse.

Yea and about the disabling the VDC i saw your post but thats a little complicated. Ill see if i can do that.

With what size drill do a drill the new fuse?

In regards to the VDC you might have problems....I had a Track prior to my Enthusiast and when I removed the brake light fuse all hell broke loose in regards to the warning lights and my car would not launch.
The Enthusiast with it's TCS does not cause this problem.
I believe it depends on what year you have since some people with VDC have this problems other do not

I would highly recommend investing in the KP tech switch that allows you to turn off the vdc/tcs and keep the setting like that even if you turn the car off

I don't remember what size drill I used, sorry, but it should be fairly obvious once you look at the fuse

I really want to do this switch so i dont have to be taking it out and putting it back on all the time.

BTW this fuse is just to disconnect the rear brakes correct.

no it does not disconnect the rear brakes, you'll still have to pedal the brake.
it disconnects the brake light which in return disconnects the drive by wire power reduction you get if you hit the throttle and brake at the same time.

I would still highly recommend investing in a line lock system

Well i got a prewired toggle switch, and i got a mini add a circuit which are for the fuses we use. Im missing the inline fuse and how much wire. Im planning on putting it next to the TC button

Why not just pull the plug that controls TCS/VDC/ABS? You may not want to do this on the street for various reasons but it seems to be the easiest for the drag strip.

The gray plug in actually more of computer plug, much like the ecu plugs. It plugs left to right (not up and down) There is a black "swing latch" over it. To remove, push in on the gray notches and lift the black over them. (there are 2 notches, one at bottom of gray plug and and one at the top of the gray plug to keep black "swing latch" from loosening) It takes about 10 sec once the cover conceling that corner of the engine bay is removed.

Watch out putting that switch where the heated seat buttons would be, i've accidentally turned mine on with my arm several times.

I think you could just put a switch on the wire off the brake switch instead of the fuse and leave the factory fuse in place.

Here is my inline fuse. Also does the order go like this from top to bottom? And what do i do with the other wire from the switch were does it get wired to.

Am I on the right track here.

Here is were I installed the switch. To my opinion it came out really good. Let me know what you guys think.

Now I just need someone to guide me in the wiring part I think I have all the components just need the instructions. Anyone that has this HELP!!!!!!!!!!
