yeah i am still not sure, i might have a pretty cool surprise... probably do the LS2 swap in the G35, but still not sure what route with my Z i am going to go

bacalhau16 01-22-2007 07:54 PM

I would think that you would want a few more passes in the Z with your current setup though. Its not like you got to get enough passes with the new tranny yet. It would be interesting to see how deep you could get with your current setup!

Audible Mayhem 01-23-2007 02:29 AM

well.... cometics + 17+ PSI = blowing boost through the coolant

which in return gets water into the oil , this water in the oil gets on the main bearings and well... game over :(

crank is done, block is done, mains are done. live and learn. i am starting back over with the short block, not sure what i am going to do though. i will keep everyone informed though.

if anyone thinks that they have any kind of head gasket leak, dont drive the car at all. we are looking at finding some oversized bearings and possibly line honing the mains and see what we can do but i dont want to put it all back together and try to run crazy boost until i know it will hold it. thats why i am not sure what i want to do right now.

RBlover69 01-23-2007 10:22 AM

i say stroke the ***** MORE POWA lmao jk. Also did you get the s techs in?
either that or do that titan swap that would be awsome.

Audible Mayhem 01-24-2007 03:09 AM

yup i have the stechs in, i am checking now on a couple sponsors on stroking the motor and keeping it all motor, i am going to put a LSx in my G, thats pretty much the plan right now.

still up in the air, except for the NA/nitrous combo on my car, thats pretty definite

bacalhau16 01-24-2007 10:45 PM

So what is going to be the setup on the NA/nitrous motor though? Stock Long block, or cams w/...

I was also unaware that you turbo motor was not still together. I was under the impression that it was ok, so I can see why that is not really a consideration of yours. I take it the cometic headgasket didnt seal very well then. Do you think that the machining was just a little off for that headgasket?

Audible Mayhem 01-25-2007 01:59 PM

yeah the cometic started all the problems, not sure really what caused all the mess, i am doing a custom JE piston 12.7 to 1 with some big cams, probably just use eagle rods.

i will have the pistons in less than two weeks and have it all together here really soon. 12.7 is the highest compression that you can do without any valve clearance issues.

we will see, i will probably run a 150-200 shot on top of it after i run some fast NA times..

RBlover69 01-25-2007 08:05 PM

u better say when and where, this should be a event for all to vid and see man. U might spark the NA revolution lmao. ..and make alot of people broke, lol happy but broke lmao jk

Im a huge N/A fan, and Im sure Jeremy's car will be pretty fast with a 12.7 compression ratio a good tune, and a huge rev limiter. This is absolutely going to spark a lot of peoples imagination and mine, and end up costing us a lot of mony in the process. I still cant wait. Good luck Jeremy.

The cometic gasket issue also though. I know they are supposed to be really good and all, but it seems as though the shop you send it to has to be 110% spot on with its measurements for fitment or they just fail. My friend built a VR6 Golf and attempted a cometic headgasket and just ended up with a ton of headaches. Seems like its the "right" way to do it, but the success rate, as far as I have seen is really bad.

Jeremy, why are you changing your set-up? I would have thought you would have given the current set-up a little more time to see what it is capable of running. Don't get me wrong I think a high comp. build with nitrous is awesome. We have thought about doing a "big" nitrous build as well. On a side note have you modified or reinforced the rear suspension on your car. We are concerned about it's ability to hold the power/tq we will be throwing at ours this season. Let me know and best of luck with the Z. Jason

sorry to bump this back but i didnt see his question...

basically when my motor was built, cometics/cosworth or stock headgasket were the only choices, well 17 psi and 100 shot blew it out and got some water in the oil, then the 22 psi and 150 shot i tried to run didnt help and it all caused many many issues.

i opened up a shop here in orlando and have a lot of debt now, my car has been put second on the list now, i sold my whole greddy kit installed and paid off a lot of the debt and that was a hard decision but im happy with it now.

so in return i am trying to keep the cost down and build something with just as much respect as the turbo/turbo400 setup brought. 11s on motor will be pretty exciting and will be reached here in a few months.

i dont have the time or extra money (with my new shop) to do everything i wanted to with my car, but there will be time in the near future.

good luck bldrz with hitting 9s, its very reachable with moderate levels of boost. and the rear of my car is just fine, but my car is a feather compared to most...

EM-EFER 02-09-2007 05:18 AM

Good decision.

bacalhau16 02-10-2007 05:10 PM

I really cant wait to see how it turns out. Good luck again with the build and your shop.
