Dragstrip thursday!! What do guys think ill run?
Well a bunch of us are taking our cars to the track thursday for test and tune. Im really curious as to what my car will run. Its a 2004 enthusiast 6MT. Motor is completly stock with the exception of a Purlator Hi-Flow Filter. Tires are brand spanking new bridgestones on the back so hooking up shouldnt be a problem.
Im probably a pretty decent dragstrip driver, my reaction times are pretty good, but ive never really drove the Z dragstrip style on the street. Do u guys have any pointers on whats the best way to launch these cars??
Should I just idle then floor it at green or hold some rpms and pop the clutch?
Whats the best launch procedure for a stock Z? I may only get a few runs and I dont wanna feel like an *** and run a 15.5.
Actually what does a stock Z even run in the 1/4??? Also my car has LSD if that makes a difference.
Thanks guys. Im gonna post my times and a video thursday night here.

Most likely aceman will put you in modified with a Purlator Hi-Flow Filter. The bump is 14.07 seconds so you have to do better than that.

So your saying that a 04 enthu Z is capable of 13's? I was always told that there 14.0 sec cars at best, and only with mods are capable of 13's.
My 02 Maxima Autotragic ran a 14.8 spinning its 1 wonder tire, I couldnt believe it, after that I was stuck on stupid to get a Z. If that motor propelled that family car into the 14's spinning then the Z must be a monster.

Take a look at the top times registry at the top of this forum. I ran 13.80 my first pass ever, 13.77 my 2nd pass nearly 4 years ago bone stock. Many that have had more practice have beat that bone stock. 13's are possible, dont believe the haters, but 13's are not the norm stock for 03-06' Z's. Good luck.

With good driving and a good launch, any Z of any year is capable of 13's stock. Your remarks are a little funny though. You have new RE040's, "so hooking up shouldnt be a problem." LOL! You try that pop the clutch method and see how well they hook up.
Hold an RPM, smoothly and quickly slip the clutch. Thats your best bet. Dont dump the clutch at the line, its probably not going to work. Good luck though, and let us know how you do.

The launch is key, and you will need to heat the tries up a little to get better response from them, but not too much, just a brief burn out. Launch at 3K to get started, slipping the clutch quickly. Make sure to shift at redline, quick and cleanly.
Let us know how you do, and we'll go from there.

Read post #16 or go to www. Bradentonmotorsports.com.........I have been to Bradenton a few times to race and when the track isn't prepped, its just alot of tire spinning. One of the members went on a Thursday night for test& tune and he said the track sucked due to no prepping. Saturday Night Showdowns have fast cars there so they really do a good job on the track.
