oh I guess Im wrong but the track season is 50/50 here. It all depends when the first snow comes but they are scheduled to close sometime in december so I think I have 1 or 2 more weeks left.

I always heard the same - my friends mustang lot a MPH going to slicks - out of the hole faster = less distance to gain speed, at least thats how I always understood it.

Sweet! Nice run.

I noticed a difference when I test drove an 07 and this is the proof.

unless you have a car like bri had.....that thing just hauled a$$ so no matter what tires youll pull insane times and trap speeds

Im still stoked about my 12second pass. Even though I wish I tracked it more when it was stock but the 2nd day I gotmy car I modded it so why not go all the way. I hope to reach my goals of mid 12's by next season. Good luck to the other 07's to hit 12's. I know you guys will do it eventually.

You have your hopes too high. 107 trap on a stock 07's will rarely ever happen, unless you happen to have one of the best 1/4 mile drag strips in the U.S with very ideal conditions, + excellent driver [VeeTec]. You have to have all of those combined in order to get low 13's, 105+ trap.

FYI: 07 Z's trap <= 103 mph in SoCal at best.

Wrong..that's due to bias ply tires vs. radial tires.

Your theory doesn't make any sense. If you get out of the hole faster then you are going faster at 60ft and thus you already have more MPH then if you came out of the hole slower and the same distance to pick up more speed. So by that theory you should always trap HIGHER with stickier tires.

Guess it depends. I've seen it go both ways. *shrug*

^ My experience... the less sticky the tires, the higher trap you're gonna get. The stickier the tires, the better launch/60' you'll get.

Conditions are IMO more important. I dont think I am that good of a driver but I trapped 107 at the same track as Gooey yesterday. Just ideal conditions. By the way with that 107 trap it was a very bad 2.3 60ft

He had the same results with drag radials, just went to slicks to see if it made a difference.

With stock tires he trapped ~102, with DR's/slicks (same tire height) he trapped ~99.

His ET however was a tenth quicker, with a .25 drop in his 60'.

I don't know how to justify it, really I try but it doesn't make sense. My experience has backed it up though (faster ET's came with relatively lower traps).

I think it depends on the car and conditions, but in general a better launch nets a lower trap from everything I've seen. I'm not the only person thinking that - I've read both stated as fact, I'm saying I'm not sure, please don't state a fact you aren't sure about...
