The air was very good tonight, but my clutch wasn't.......results....
I am getting very fustrated with this replacement slave cylinder. If I rev the rpms where I need to now, I lose hold of the higher gears, during the runs.
If I bog the launch, I lose too much on the bottom end. If I don't do enough of a burn out, it will spin too easy, but at least then, the higher gears hold. On the whole, I wasn't too upset, as I wasn't sure if the clutch would hold at all, after last week. Still, great air, and the car was running so strong, as was observed on my very first pass, where I spun off the line, and going into second, and still ran a 13.2. From there, the stress of lanching took its toll, and I could only get marginal hold when upshifting after hard launches. I took some of the stress off on my best pass by lifting ever so slightly longer than normally. The passes were few as well, due to several cars breaking on the track. Normally the car gets about 1 mph faster on the second run, if I can run back to back, but tonight, that didn't happen, and the clutch probably would have slipped worse. I think I am done with Carolina Dragway for a while. I may have to get a new clutch, or make one more try at one of the faster tracks soon. On a good note, I challenged a guy with a new 2008 C6 Corvette 6 speed. I know they are much faster, but thought I may be able to tree him, and get off the line better. I did, and beat him by half a car, although he was coming back strong, and trapped 110.94 to my 105.25. At a faster track, I am sure he would have trapped in the 112-114 range. Anywho, here is my best slip, out of 6 passes. http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/1...b103020bk3.jpg |
man, you are a good ass driver, sick. Man, you are so close to high 12's.
|
well done sir. looks like a clutch replacment is in your near future?
|
Can't see the slip?

To run only 5mph less than an LS3 vette is darn impressive.

However, stock LS3 Vettes trap up to 119mph. Average traps at a decent track with good DA is ~114-117. |

Lol..
I knew HPDZ06 was going to come in here and make some kind of correction favoring the corvette.. |

Yeah...119mph is way optimistic for the LS3.

As far as the 350Z goes Veetec is a great driver but he is also not the only one to trap at least 105 in a 350Z now.... that should just be considered par for the course IMHO. FWIW the LS3 has pulled off 118~119mph traps... the old LS6 Z06 used to trap 118 on the upper end... He didn't say that was normal..but it does happen. :) ... |

I don't get what you are trying to say? C5 is an LS1 with ~350hp in a 32xxlb car and they tend to trap 108~110mph... a C6 (400hp and similar weight) under 112mph isn't running near it's potential period..not the tracks fault just the drivers. ;)

I think he meant to type C6.. as in the C6 that Veetech ran on that particular day only trapped 5mph better than his Z.... thats my guess...

yeah... I skimmed back over and it says C6... I saw 110mph and that = C5 to me..haha... no reason a C6 should be trapping that low. :dunno:

Anything can happen at the strip. Seen many a car (vettes included) where the driver is incapable of driving the car anywhere near its limits.
Not that it takes anything away from Veetec what-so-ever. :) |

You should try some dot 5 clutch/brake fluid, it should help with the clutch problems your having.
nice times. I really think that it is time for a clutch anyway. Maybe fresh fluid and a check for leaks will help. |
