Surprised that these cars never really took off at the drag strip. The wife and I may get an HR roadster on of these days, once a few of our kids graduate. 🙂

Going to the track on Saturday with my Stage 1 GTI, and some friends with a Mercedes SL65 and an E55. Trying to get the modded E55 to run its first 11!

This thread makes me conscious of my age. :icon9:

Back in the day (surely something only an old guy says :icon17:), we had our Chevies and Mopars with somewhat built small blocks (cammed, headers, compression, Holley or Carter AFBs) and 3.73s or 4.11s had issues getting down into the low/mid-13s.

Yet, a stock '03 Z *allegedly* runs high 13s out of the box!

Old. Hahahahahahahaha!

Wellllllllllllllllllllll......look at it this way..... without them, this site (and probably 90% of sites on the web would not be available FOR FREE.)

When I first got into web companies - early '90s - we all wondered how to make money on the then new-to-most WWW. My company originally charged users for access to premium information much like the information companies used to do (Lexis-Nexis and Hoovers comes to mind). We did that for less than a year as the web started to catch on with all the "free info" out there. So how to make money? Advertising was that vehicle that propelled us to where we are today.

When you think about it, it's NO DIFFERENT than the television concept (before we had to pay exorbitant amounts to Comcrap or AT&Tease for service.)

Oh, I'd agree that there's too many ads EVERYWHERE but ya get what ya pay for.

Live with it or move into a cave. Hahahahaha! Said with tongue firmly planted in cheek. :icon17:

27 out of 31 posts are vender advertisements. That is 87% of what appears on my screen.

Compared to the 11 other forums I visit daily, 87% is waaay overboard.

and to remind you . . . . . Some member do pay for this site.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, got it, you meant in the listings.... thought you were referring to the banner ads to the right side of the screen (which I don't find that intrusive.)

Yeah, the multiple single company postings in diff sections (all showing up on the "New Posts" screen) do create some need for scrolling and scrolling and then more scrolling.

Honesty though, not much one can do when vendors get a lot of traffic that way.

Most of the country can't go to the track from November to March.

rustyschopshop 02-10-2017 07:35 PM

I am still here but am a bit depressed because of my health and not being able to work on my car and getting it running. Some days I log in to see what everyone is doing but don't say anything. Definitely can't wait to get back into the Z again.

jerryd87 03-24-2017 08:28 PM

kids posting, thinking they know something and not really knowing anything is what drove me away, i browse once every few months just to see if anything amuses me. im currently trying to decide if i wanna take the 96 camaro, the 79 camaro, or finish the chassis on the z and throw a slow engine in it just for this year for track time.

those ads are the biggest thing that makes me not want to come back here, needs to be a better balance of paying the bills and actually having people left to advertise to

jksstar 03-28-2017 04:54 AM

i wish people would leave the facebook groups and come back here

jksstar 03-29-2017 03:54 AM

the biggest one is just called 350Z with 30K+ members tn the 10 smaller groups with 15k+ members . I'm even in them but I don't post on them . Facebook killed forums IMO
