tire psi and burnout
 

I built this car with the intention on running it at the strip on the weekends. After 2 seasons missed due to tuning issues and poor performance out of the car, I'm back in business. I need to order better tires. I have the NITTO 555R in the back as of now. Can someone explain to me how to decide how much air I should or shouldn't have in my rear tires at race time? My car is a Vortech blown and Edge stalled 5AT, so a burn out should be pretty easy. (even for me and my bad knees) How big of burn out is necessary though? I would imagine these NITTOS need to get pretty warm.

Try different psi's at the track. Find what works best for you.

With my NT-05r's, I was at 17psi hot. Use a high quality gauge, not one of those cheap stick gauges. Also, with a radial tire, you want minimal burnout. Drive around the water box and back into it. You want to clean the marbles and debris off the tires and get a small amount of heat in them. Drag radial are not slicks. You don't want them hot. DR's get greasy when they're hot.

Hey I’m new to drag as well and from I been reading you want to turn the psi down to get traction out the whole and keep turning down till on the top end you start getting loose the. Go up a couple till the top end is straighten out .. hope I’m correct , hopefully someone else can chime in
