How much RWHP is required for mid 11's?

My goals are mid 11's for a daily driven 350Z on 94octane.

I need to know how much rwhp is required so that I can plan how much I need to spend on mods to keep reliability.

I am planing to go with the APSTT kit.

you should really ask how much hp for a certain mph you are looking for. if you are looking for a track car, you will need about 380rwhp at full weight to get there, this is a car with slicks though

dansouliere Nov 19, 2004 11:51 AM

I think 130mph trap speed would be more than enough for me.

jackie chan Nov 19, 2004 12:28 PM

better get in the 500+rwhp range then

ZxRage Nov 19, 2004 01:28 PM

I would say to reach mid 11's you will need at least 450 rwhp. Currently, around 400 rwhp will get you to 12.0.

Is there anybody on this site with a twin turbo kit in the 11's?

sfarrah Nov 19, 2004 02:09 PM

member 03_ppw350z has run an 11.4 i believe with the greddy TT kit. he's currently building a custom kit according to his posts.

mjedens Nov 19, 2004 03:40 PM

IMO, ZxRage has it correct!! Needless to say, don't forget to work on your 60ft setup.

dansouliere Nov 19, 2004 04:02 PM

Well 03_ppw350z does not have any special mods really. With forged rods, pistons and increasing the boost to 13.5psi on ET Streets 11.4@127 is damn impressive.

there are A LOT of factors to look at besides power to get you in the 11s...suspension, tires, weight, tranny, drivetrain, etc. you could prolly pull 11s with low 300whp on sticky tires, trimming off a couple hundred pounds, and having the right suspension set up.

I am sure I could but I would prefer to do it with full interior and drag radials.

The only suspension work that I will do is the Tein Flex system with EDFC and the Hotchkis swaybars.

I was able to break into the 11's with only 420 rwhp on street tires.. The conditions and driving have to be prime.

Nice driving-what tire set-up? What were your times? 60ft 1/8 1/4 e.t. and trap? Thanks...

ZainT Jan 2, 2005 06:17 PM

the same tires that are in my sig.. dropped them down to about 15-16 psi. 0-60 was 1.9 and my trap was 119 with a et of 11.89

I dissagree, 450 will get you in the low 12's

If you look at a list of f/i 350z's. You will see the fastest 350 is putting 435 something to the wheels and running in the low 12's. 12.1 infact.

It's not comprehensive by any means, but it gives you a pretty good idea.

Power Enterprises kit put out 657 WHP, no NOS, BFG DOT Drag Tires, and a 10.3 @ 141 MPH. the PE kit was good for 18PSI under extreme conditions, scale that back some and we can build you a daily driver that goes in the 11's all day long.

Call us for more info.

ask for dan

dansouliere Jan 3, 2005 06:23 PM

I wonder how much rwhp the APS kit would put out at 18psi...

did you just skip over and not read ZainT's posts???

450rwhp is DEFINITELY good for mid 11s in the Z...hell I'm almost in the 12s with less than 250rwhp...

He is an exception. If you take into account adjustments for Altitude, he's only running a 12.12. So, with that being said, if ZainT came out to Cali and raced, he would run in the low twelves.

screw adjustments....what does his timeslip say? Out in cali you aren't anywhere near sea level at most tracks. I don't think the poster of this thread wants to know how much slower cars run at higher elevations. Why don't you go adjust my stock 13.68 and tell me I have a 14 second car

BTW - ZainT's 11.89 was on 19 inch STREET TIRES....put him on a set of slicks and he's WELL into the 11s...EVEN IN CALI....and he only has 440rwhp ;)
