Sam Yousif's 350z Pro-Am Drift car V8 build
Hey all,
I have been debating for a long time whether I want to go with a chevy LS swap or a VK56 and have made up my mind on the LS1.. yes good choice. The process has already started, I have accquired a complete LS1 swap and a T56 6 speed trans. We have stripped the car down to a bare minimum as we are getting ready to mount the LS1 swap. There will be no cross member or firewall modifications at all so this should be a non difficult swap. I will be doing some bolt ons to the LS1 such as custom long tube headers, cams, and springs before the initial fire up. Will keep you guys updating, let me know what you think :) http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1..._7444544_n.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1..._8080207_n.jpg |
Heres the LS1 motor swap, Arrived a while ago, it has been taken a part for a little bit of internal work to be done.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...01011-1151.jpg Look at this dash harness I took out along with stock computers..all together weighed about 75 pounds not including engine harness http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...01010-1321.jpg |

In for the win:thumbup:

Good luck with the buld, and I can't wait to see your build's progress. Do you have a projected completion date for this project?

looks sick

Thanks a lot guys, the swap is in its final stages. We are using Fueled Racing's LS1 mounting kit along with their headers. The kit is very high quality and priced right so I couldn't say no to that.

one more LS powered! sub'ed!

good choice

*sigh*
The fact that everyone is switching to V8 is ruining the "sport." All is well I guess because IMO grassroots is where drifting belongs, but still...The VQ has more than enough power to achieve desired angle/speed...just my .02 |

In for updates :)

Thanks a lot guys. I went with the V8 because of the fact that is very reliable under extreme conditions and parts are available everywhere for the LS1. Not to mention the added HP and TQ needed to be competitive against other drivers out there with high HP cars.
Sure if everyone had a VQ then I wouldn't have a problem staying with a VQ, but the fact that everyone is going with very high HP setups, I must do the same in order to stay competitive in the series. The Texas Speed Magic Stick cam kit is being installed, which includes Cam, springs, retainers, lifters, and push rods - (stage 4) 60-80whp and up to 100whp of RAW V8 Powaaaa :icon21: Ported oil pump ARP rod bolts GMPP LS2 heavy duty timing chain Thats going to be all the internal motor work im going to do for now.. after a good tune I should be at about 450whp and about 440 ft tq MUCH thanks to Fueled Performance Racing. I wanted to show you guys the switch panel I ended up going with. its the ARC 8000 with 50 amp relays, I like this one a lot better than the old school toggle switches. Its a flat touch panel which can be mounted to a roll cage as well as a dash. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ox/arc8000.jpg |
not sure why you would need a v8 for Pro-Am, but your switch plate is baller as $hit!
|
Dam, and hell ya. Can't wait to check it out next time your in Vegas.
|
awesome build! keep the updates coming!
