Z1 Motorsports VQ35DE Twin Disc Clutch Assembly $1298.00

After months of testing followed by months of production the Z1 Motorsports Twin Disc Clutch Assembly is finally ready. We expect delivery on these clutches by 4/23 and will be ready to ship them immediately.

Multi plate clutches have long been the preferred method of power transfer for professional racers and even serious street drivers with high powered cars. The simple design, reduced rotating weight, high power capability, and lower cost of replacement discs makes a multi plate clutch a wise choice for high horsepower Z's.

After months of testing, the new Z1 Twin Disc Clutch Assembly is now available. Using high strength disc materials and a fully engineered design, these clutches provide a crisp engagement without being too harsh for daily use and are a direct bolt on package for VQ35DE applications. No bellhousing, transmission, or starter modifications are required.

One of the many benefits of this clutch overall weight. The stock VQ35De clutch and flywheel package weighs more than 40lbs whereas the Z1 Twin Disc Assembly weighs in at less than 23lbs. The diameter of the clutch / plate assembly has been reduced by more than 25% lowering total rotational inertia.

Included in this kit:
  • Z1 VQ35DE Twin Disc Clutch / Flywheel Assembly
  • Throw Out Bearing
  • Pilot Bushing
  • Alignment Tool
  • Adjustable Clutch Pedal Stop
  • Instruction Sheet

Plates clearly marked for worry free installation

The Z1 Twin Disc Clutch Assembly is conservatively rated to 700 ft / lbs of torque to the wheels, and has been dyno tested at Z1 to over 700 rwhp. For even more power handling we offer the option of the upgraded "Extreme" hat and plate assembly. This upgraded clutch offers holding power up to 820 ft / lbs of torque to the wheels. The upgraded hat and plate assembly does require greater pedal effort and is more aggressive.

This clutch kit has been designed to be the best multi disc solution for the 350Z / G35 focusing on drivability. This clutch kit will feel more aggressive than the Z1 six puck clutch kit but can be driven a lot easier than most other twin discs. This kit was developed to provide high powered 350Z / G35 owners with a capable but yet street drivable clutch that is safe for your engine.

In order for conventional single disc clutches to meet the needs of a high powered car, the pressure plate clamping force must be substantially increased, resulting in increased pedal effort. This translates into more lateral force being applied against the crankshaft, which results in premature wear of engine thrust bearings particulary on cold starts. Total engine failures have been attributed to excessively heavy pressure plates, which may have been required to achieve enough torque capacity to prevent a single disc clutch from slipping in a high powered car. The multi-plate design allows for the spring pressure required for disengagement to be significantly reduced while still increasing the torque holding capacity. Unlike some of the "heavy" single plate clutch options on the market with high spring pressures, the Z1 twin disc clutch does not contribute to premature engine damage.

can you pm more info on how bad is it for daily driving when compare to a carbon set up or a 3 puck set up.

We put one of these clutches through the Dragon test this weekend on a 470 rwhp supercharged Z. It took the abuse and kept on pulling.

Definitely interested in getting feedback from you on how it works out at that power level. We've been beating on them for a year now in testing and have had solid results. We use the same hat and plate design in our 300ZX TT twin disc and have pushed that clutch well past 700 without a flaw.

I can't wait to read the reviews on this clutch. I hope it holds up more than SPEC pos Super Twin.

So far, so good from all of our testing. The first batch is on the market now and several have been shipped out and installed.

my super twin ST held my 898whp/700wtrq on the dynodynamics just fine. I just upgraded to their SS clutch since the tranny was down and I'm shooting for more power.

The Z1 twin looks real nice as well!

We've never had any dealings with SPEC so I can't really comment on any of their products. Those are impressive numbers for any brand twin disc though.
