Default Winter Tire Size?

What size of winter tire should we get?
Stock have front 225/45/18 rear 245/45/18. I am going with 17" steelies, and it works out to be front 225/50/17 and rear 225/55/17 so the overall diameter will be the same. But I called few tire shops and they said most of the time people use the same size all around. One shop suggested 225/50/17 all around and the other said 225/55/17 all around. What do you guys think? Will I have any problem with TCS or VDC if I have the same size all around? Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

When i was in your shoes I searched and found this..

https://my350z.com/forum/wheels-and-tires/203755-will-these-tires-work-with-my-vdc-enabled-car-read-here.html

^I would suggest you read that.

When I narrowed it down to size 18', I decided to stick with stock numbers.
225/45/18. 245/45/18.

But with 17's I would have used.
225/50/17, 245/50/17

But you decide what you think is right after reading that post.

I run 215/65/16 Blizzaks all round on steelies.

Go to your Infiniti dealership for a wheel/tire packaged they use for the G35 coupe. Great price and functional - all you need for winter. ;-)

I dont think 16s wil work on 2006's...the brakes are larger.

However to answer the original poster...I was in the same boat and i ended up getting the proper ratio 225/50/17 front and 225/55/17 rear. I was recommended by the shop to go 225/50/17 all around but i decided not to in the end. I dont think itll mess up VDC/TCS, but I just went with the safe route not to mess up the speedo or anything..etc...

My current winter setup is Bridgestone Blizzak LM-22 225/45R18 front and 245/45R18 Rear. Basically, it's stock size.

I went with 225/55/17 all around on stock Z 17" rims. The car looks like stock but the front is actually a little higher which is probably better for snowy conditions. Do this option it works well and you can rotate front to back.

If you have a stock car, I'm not sure how much you save by storing it because it just sits there a depreciates 4 months a year.
