Why are most Z's being sold convertibles?

I was looking on Autotrader and I noticed the majority of 350z's for sale were convertibles. Why is that? Do most people buy Convertibles, or do most people that buy them regret it and sell them?

i noticed the same thing the other day ... and i really have no clue why that is .
maybe they're too noisy ... verts are always somewhat noisy .

DBTRACK Feb 23, 2008 07:45 PM

my zr is actually pretty quiet compared to other converts that I have been in.....

yeah . well i mean my boxter isnt like LOUD ,
but i know that is sometimes a turn off for car buyers if they aren't expecting the possibility of wind noise .

toples z Feb 23, 2008 09:47 PM

people are selling their ZR because they are SHMUKS

yeah, my roadster is SUPER quiet with the windows up. More so then my coupe. But with the top up and the windows down, the "helicopter" sound is pretty damn annoying.

How can you even think to say people regret buying them.:icon14:

My ZR is the Best! It's March in a week and people are thinking spring. Looks like a few dealers are bringing in the ZR from the US and getting ready for early spring sales. The place I got mine from has two in Autotrader and all they sell are US cars. Last year when I bought mine there were three to choose from on the lot.

A little Noise does not bother me any. It`s a Sports car damn it and a cool Roadster to boot! It`s has to be frosty for me to close the roof or raining.

If you can`t put up with a little noise by an electric car. :icon16:

ZR is the way to go

DBTRACK Feb 24, 2008 09:37 AM

yeah windows down with the top up is pretty annoying, but I either have the windows up with the top up or topless so its the best of both worlds ;)

xtcz Feb 24, 2008 10:44 AM

if its nice enough for windows down, top goes down too .. so no prob.

Z is as quite as my eclipse which was double layered. but the sounds in the Z rock ..i love hearing it throught the roof.

it is the season.. i had a HARD time finding my cdn version last year. way too many coupes .. all the Zr now seems to be all US

dhwang80 Feb 24, 2008 10:49 AM

maybe it's this time of the month. it's starting to head to spring. that's when the buyers start looking.

kinda like motorcycle sales. how many motorcycles sell during winter versus spring-time when the weather starts warming/clearing up?

bender Feb 24, 2008 02:07 PM

They are coming off lease.

When I was at the dealer's picking up my coupe, I asked them the same question - they had way more rag tops. He said the Nissan gave them a $3k rebate to take them of their hands. I had assumed that they just sold more. After that, I think they sold less and just made too many.

That's what I was told... you'll also notice almost all of them are automatics.

you cant buy an auto ZR (big mistake)

Keltin13 Feb 26, 2008 08:45 PM

I have no complaints on the ZR. I really enjoy it!

Blu_Blur Feb 26, 2008 08:55 PM

I think it is because verts are just simply uglier, heavier, noisier and have more things that can go wrong. Did I mention they are fugly?

All Z's SHOULD be hard tops.

dhwang80 Feb 27, 2008 05:51 AM

well i think ours look better and relish that ours were more expensive than yours
:)

I1DER Feb 27, 2008 06:09 AM

It is still February and most of the US and East Canada, where the OP is from, are having a harsh winter. I'm amazed people are surprised that convertibles are being offered for sale in winter.

toples z Feb 27, 2008 07:48 AM

convirtables rule

First of all to each is own. Now when you have stupid coments like ^^
keep them to yourself. you think its ugly, but obviously other people dont and that is why they spent extra money on a convertable rather that your $hit box. Its too bad that you dont live in toronto. I would have showed you what my convirtable can do to your coupe.:icon22:
