is this the mosports big track or the DDT track? I feel like posponing my ticket to hong kong again !!! lol

goneinsixtyseconds May 26, 2008 06:45 PM

^^ it says in the thread that it's the DDT track. it sounds like a really good opportunity to learn how to track properly.

mikhe May 26, 2008 06:51 PM

its a nice track to learn in but i dont know how good a Z with 400 whp is gonna do on that track.

better off learning in Shannonville. All you gonna do on that track with your power is overheat your tires and stuff haha.

its not the best track for heavy and high power cars since its meant for karting.

Smasher May 26, 2008 06:59 PM

^^Maybe true for experienced fast drivers but you have to start somewhere and i'm quite fine with learning the corners at lower speeds. Last year I had a day at TMP and I was smiling from ear to ear for a week.

Type-S May 26, 2008 07:42 PM

I'll be there

I've been a TPC member pretty much since the club started

The class (if you're doing it) is very good, and the community is excellent - everyone is very friendly and willing to give pointers or take you for a few laps (there are some VERY experienced drivers there)

i attended the ddt at mosport like 3 weeks ago, you wont pass 3rd gear its a very good track to learn your line i dont think you will burn your tire out just take it easy no point gunning it anywhere there are sharp turns everywhere and one blind apex 2 straight lines where you can hit third gear

was that you yesterday on the 404 south??

they have a TT setup though !

its a nice track though.

I've seen the track personally, it's pretty disappointing. I doubt I can even pass 120kmh on that track, didn't even bother going on it.

Shannonville FTW

mikhe May 26, 2008 09:24 PM

i dont know about that, i hti 150-160 there easy.

XuperXero May 26, 2008 11:37 PM

really? on such a small track?

nissannx May 27, 2008 12:56 AM

The DDC is a great technical track. I'd say it's my favourite track - but it certainly favours low HP cars. Smasher, what you want to do is go there and forget about shifting gears and hitting the red line. You want to focus on line and being smooth - put it in third gear and do a few sessions without shifting at all. Then start playing with the gearbox. The skills you learn doing that will help you on any track. What brakes are you using? Track pads are going to be a must for your car if you're out on road courses.

Top speed obviously varies on the configuration that is run - and there are many variables and kinks that can be incorporated. If the day is run using just the outer ring, it's a reasonably fast track. The elevation changes add enough excitement by unsettling your car - causing your heart to race a bit faster.

Have fun.:)

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Looking forward to this just hoping the rain holds off for the most part.
When I went to TMP I didnt take the car out of 3rd for the first half day and was only able to get it into 4th on a few short spots and the home strech.

A few more learning days after this and I hope to advance to the bigger tracks and speed with some confidence. Maybe next year. Track tires, rims and pads will be a must then.

Calabougie and Shannonville next year ya!

Hey Smasher,
I went to the TPC link but i couldn't find the time of the event. What time does the event start? I am interested in taking the course as well but I have to see how the timing works out.

There's a Sunoco with 94 in Bowmanville on the way to Mosport. Fill up there. You might want a 5 gallon plastic gas can in your trunk. You can buy 94 or Turbo Blue 100 at the track (when the pumps are open) but be ready for the prices.:icon11:

That's assuming the person already has a good grip of basic driving technique and knows his car very well

Thanks nissannx
I guess I will bring some extra cash. Not much room in the ZR for a 5 gallon can.

the last time i went to mosports ( the big track) I spent 30 bucks for 94 octance every sessions (30 mins). it was like a $1.9 for a liter, probably 2 now. haha
IMO find a way to fit those cans ! going to save you alot of money

Smasher May 27, 2008 06:01 PM

Hummm Is there a gas station close and are you allowed to leave and come back in?
