Do i really need to follow Nissan's Recommended Maintenance Schedule?
 

they have all those Maintenance 1 2 3 4 ....which are pretty expansive..do i really need to follow? if not , which schedule should i follow? how am i supposed to maintenance my Z?

Follow the instructions in you FSM.

But that being said, also consider the use of your vehicle. Of those over the time/distance how has your Z been treated, what kind of weather do you drive in (winter driven?), how hard do you drive it, how often do you drive it and so on. For example if you drive you car in the winter, your bushings are going to rought away a lot faster than if it was just your summer car (just one example).

You certainly have a lot of tolerance in that matenance schedule, look at it like a check list... it helps you keep track of all the things to be maintained so nothing is overlook and gives you ball-park checkpoints in which the components should be looked at or replaced. Also the maintenance scedule lets you plan you cash flow, if you drive your car till all the ball joints/bushings and so on are shot it will eventually get to the point where they will have to all be replaced immediately, at once. That will hurt anyone's pocket book in terms of cash flow.

Myself, when I drive my Z I beat on it... it is my toy. Therefore I may want to stay ahead of the maintenance schedule since it is seeing harsher conditions.

Keep in mind though, if you walk into the stealership for maintenance 1234... they are going to stiff you for sure.
