Kiriller Aug 29, 2009 09:10 AM

toples z Aug 29, 2009 10:47 AM

the problem is they never have anything in stock

rchaud411 Aug 29, 2009 11:09 AM

Another problem with JRP is even with there up to 50% off there stuff is still expensive. Oh and yes there website is absolute garbage. Sorry JRP but it is nothing but the truth.

WHen I was in my younger days, i spent around 30K building my 2 honda civics at JRP. I waited for months to come to get my things, my drag wheels were on back order for almost 6 months, I got them in the winter. I was told each week they were on the way to oakville. And they sold me a set of cams, when it didnt work, i was told by another rep, why i bought a stage 1. I should have gone more agressive. I had to spend another 900 for a more agressive cam. At the end of the day, i feel like i was robbed.

JRP get new sales reps.

Boorad Aug 29, 2009 10:29 PM

I havnt had any problems with them. they prices can be high but for the most part its good stuff and you get what you pay for... as for nothing in stock, i dunno about that, you could walk in there with 50g's and walk out with parts just for our car...

BUT i have noticed the lengthly time for shipping parts/ "back orders"... not always their fault I guess.

(no i dont work for them lol)

skperformance Aug 29, 2009 11:04 PM

hey at 11 at night i can only go to sobeys or walmart .
So i took a drive and bought some wheel lock nuts.
Price was not bad but the first 2 guys i spoke 2 tried to tell me the regular price was the sale price, luckily the final guy i dealt with was straight and honest.

mistanismo Aug 31, 2009 06:23 AM

Well, I checked it out. Disorganized and overpriced as my final verdict... also got the whole price run around when I inquired about a few items.

A few things appeared to be a decent deal, non-350z related... tried to sell me items they had IN STOCK vs what I asked for however, which is always a bit of a turn off.

nick123 Aug 31, 2009 04:36 PM

Ya man..They tried to sell me sparco harness bars for my civic....So i said alright, ill buy them...They were sorta pressuring me( about 3 years back). So i said what the heck, i spent 500 each...I paid and then they brought it out, but it was for another year honda...So i waited about 2 weeks...When i bought my supercharger upgrade kit, they charged me 900 for a stage 2 pully for my brothers car...When i got the items, and brought it back to the mechanic, essentially i paid 900 plus taxes for a pully, a belt for the pully a fuel pump and a msd. It turned out that i didnt need the msd and my factory fuel pump was good enough as I was only running 9 pounds of boost. So, i paid 900 for a pully..And i waited 2 months for it...

nick123 Aug 31, 2009 04:42 PM

But the biggest rip off was when i was done the car, i wanted to go OBD 1...They told me not to as the car would not run right because it wasnt OEM. Plus the jumper could only be bought from skunk 2 and the obd1 computer was super expensive. It was better to buy an ame stand alone for 2k.I decided to buy 2 vafc2 for me and my brothers cars. When i went to tune the car, the tuner told me that vafc 2 was good but could not control ignition and timining and i was wasting time and money ..I had spent so mucgh on parts but the vafc 2 was holding me back. My whp numbers were low and i already paid to tume both the cars. A few months later i went obd 1 on both cars and never went back to jrp.

I know i should not speak bad about anyone or any business, but i feel so disgusted with that company that I will always be a spokes person to deter anyone from shopping there.

Sleepy79 Aug 31, 2009 05:36 PM

I bought my hks hi power from them a few years back (same 50% sale). i figured i had saved $100 rather than shipping from the US. I had asked about some 19" volks, i think i was quoted 4K out the door with tires. Then again maybe taxes were not included, cant remember, didn't seem like that bad of a deal. if i were to do business with them again it would only be during this sale.

toples z Sep 2, 2009 12:20 PM

^^^ taxes ans SHIPPING was not included.. can you belive that S*** you order parts from them at full price and they still charge you shipping.

JRP has been around since the 90's. They've been dealing with imports long before it became the "cool" thing to do, and were the only store doing what they were doing. Would I buy something there today? Probably not, but they definitely deserve their props.

seems odd that you want to go out of your way to give JRP props but would not somethong from them:icon14:

JRP is one of those places that are still in business because they stock a lot of items. Yes they are often overpriced but you're paying for the convenience.

The reason a lot of people are upset with them is because they say they can order you a part and that it will be here in a few weeks, in reality, it takes them 6-8 months for almost any part they need to "order" to arrive.

Why wouldn't I give them props? Johnston was servicing a small community of hobbyists back in the day when you couldn't just hop online and find parts. There was no such resources available. No one was selling stuff for import cars back in the 90s like there is today. I'm talking when guys were reduced to fab their own parts because nothing was available. He was there, he was at the shows, he was around before there were forums dedicated to every car available.

Would I buy from there today? Probably not. I've got all the resources in the world at my fingertips. I don't have to wait 6 months for an item and I can compare prices with tons of different places. Times have changed and I probably haven't been to JRP since 2003, but i'll still give them props for always being there when it wasn't so easy.

Sickboy101 Sep 4, 2009 03:49 AM

thanks for the explanation...

bougizu Sep 14, 2009 05:49 AM

JRP really has the worst customer service I have seen at a retail location. Sorry to say, but the few times I have been in there, in an empty shop, the service guys still dont give me the time of day. The only decent guy is the taller guy, I think his name is Sean... There are so many other suppliers of the same products across the city, that will take the time to answer your questions, and dont have an additional 30% markup above everyone else's retail price... $750 bucks is what I paid them for SPC Front control arms, what a RIP.

I will never walk in that place let alone think of buying something from them. Sorry JRP, Ive found other suppliers to drop thousands of dollars on car parts, and Ive sent so many guys to these other shops.

Be competitive, and hire people that actually want to deal with customers. Im surprised you still have a business.
