Who's the best company for ecu reflash?

Is technosquare the only one? What other companies out there do it, and how do they all compare?

Z BOY Dec 14, 2004 12:59 AM

anyone?

ZU L8R Dec 14, 2004 04:18 AM

Altered Atmosphere also does it. That's who I'm gonna send mine to.

I'd like to know as well. What are the price ranges as well?

350G Dec 14, 2004 04:43 AM

Plus, AAM is about $100 cheaper ;)

What exactly is an ECU reflash? Is it just a software tweak on some air/fuel maps?

You get a raised rev limiter. The speed limiter is removed. They also do timing stuff and a/f adjustments or something like this. I sent an email to AAM for info on their reflash. I will post it here when I get a response.

I do not believe a Technosquare reflash and the AAM reflash are equivalent.. AAM has purchased the Techtom unit that allows reflashing the ECU but the difference between the two companies is the Software that is used to do the reflash..
Technosquare as I understand it did not sell the S/W they developed for reprogramming the ECU.. Eleminiting the rev and speed limiter and TB changes are equivalent but the reflash S/W to a particular mod or group of mod's is different..

Perhaps AAM could provide some info on what S/W they developed and how they verified it. If I am wrong I stand to be corrected..

Here is the response I got from Dave Shiroma of AAM:

Hi Zach,

Our reflash will work with your car. We include Rev Limit Increase, Speed Governor Defeat, and Throttle Open (for high RPM to open throttle body 100% as opposed to the factory that closes to 85%). We then mod the factory maps for your specific modifications. Our flash is essentially the same thing the Technosqaure offers, we have just created our own library of programs for specific mods on our in-house dyno. Technosqaure just provides us with the software to control the factory programs. I need your trim, all mods, and the ecu. Dyno charts will help us to create a program specifically tailored to your vehicle and mods, but are not necessary. We do need A/F
readouts and gear used for the runs.

I went with Technosquare cuz when I called AA, they told me $500 would only get me a raised rev limiter and remover speed limiter. When I asked if they could tune it for my mods on their dyno-they said to dyno tune the ECU to a good A/F would be an additional $250. So basically $750 for AA. I paid $600 for Technosquare ECU + $40 Overnight shipping, got my ECU back in 3 days, and dynoed it right after. My A/F's went from as lean as 15.2:1 to 13.1 all the way across the board. 9whp 13 wft lbs, on my car. And the midrange feels great, I recommend TS to anyone.

jpc350z Dec 14, 2004 09:55 AM

Appreciate the response from AAM however, Technosquare has been at the business of developing maps and verifying the gains for quite a while. What verification/assurance can AAM provide that there reflash is at least as good as Technosquare.

Can AA respond to this?

How difficult is it to remove the ecu??

Not true, I talked to Dave about it last week. The only reason the re-flash would be more is if you had F/I and it's like $100 more.

ZPirate Dec 14, 2004 01:08 PM

Don't know much about AA, but I can tell you that Technosquare does a great job. I got mine done several months ago and couldn't be more pleased with it.

Why would I lie?:icon8: When I called them about 3-4 months ago, that is what they told me. Even if you knock off $100 I still got the Technosquare for cheaper....and even if the price was the same I would go with Technosquare, they have put countless hours of R&D into several different mod combos. Ask somebody who went to AA, and see if they have a perfectly straight a/f from 2500 to 7100 rpm's, cuz that what I have, and that is what I am happy with....does AA also redo your timing maps like Technsquare does? Or do they just do fuel maps? I gained all my low end TQ back and my mid-range was much better...

And to the guy that asked, taking your ECU out is a simple 10 min process.

I'm not saying you lying but that's not the prices anymore. Maybe they changed their prices so they could be competitive.
