I placed an order for the CF pieces that replace the oem headlights and will also be installing a pair of cf doors next Friday and will not use any side glass or anything for that matter I am sure that it will save atleast 160lbs combined
Last time I weighed in at 3049 with
-Roll bar
-14" Brakes
-Nitrous system
-GT Spec Strut Bar
-Invidia Exhaust
-Front Engine Cover
-1/2 tank of gas
-OEM doors
-OEM HEadlights
-Window washer fluid reservoir in place (with no fluid)
-Speakers and radio in place
Next time I weigh in:
-Full Cage (with rear OEM strut bar cut out and rear metal area removed)
-No Nitrous System
-ARC Titanium Strut bar
-JIC Full ti Exhaust
-Removed front engine cover
-1/2 tank of gas
- CF Doors without glass or anything
-350 evo cf headlights
-Lexan front windshield
-Drilled out front bumper reinforcement
-Window washer fluid reservoir removed
-Nismo air bag resistors removed
-Radio and speakers removed
-AC Removed
I'm shooting for 2700-2750 lbs with 1/2 tank maybe less if I find other ways to shave weight in the interior.

Yeah, since there is not going to be any glass or door panel I am having the roll cage go into the doors to also give me more cockpit room

Rickdogg,
I wouldnt suggest cutting out the rear strut tower brace when you install the cage for several reasons.
First, the car will be stiffer if you leave it and connect the cage down tubes into it. This is what we did on my rollcage, it is also what has been done on all the GrandAm Cup Cars, the Japanese Super Taikyu cars (Go to the C-West website and check out the pictures of their Super Taikyu Cars) and on the Japanese Super GT300 cars. You can also run a triangle shaped reinforcement from the spare wheel well up to the bottom of the Strut Bar
Second, the stiffeness you give up by removing it, will not be offset by the weight. That beam wont weight alot. The sheet metal on the car is actually very thin. We cut out the inner door sheet metal on my racecar (which is the same thickness) and we reduced the weight only a couple of pounds per door. I would guess that the whole strut bar assembly, if cut out, wont weight more than 10-15 pounds, however you are giving up a huge ammount of structural stiffness.

Thanks for the information. I will pass this information on to the cage builder Thanks again!

rick I just wanted to remind you how much I despise you. Every time I listen to my audio system, as much as I love it, I get a twinge of guilt and think "hmm, guttted carbon doors, Nascar bars and 800-1000lb springs aren't THAT far off of a street car, right?" - worst part is my girlfriend APPROVES?!?@?#!?@# DAMN IT AREN'T THEY SUPPOSED TO TALK US OUT OF THIS ****?!!
