PMI - Poor Man's Intercooler
In an attempt to extract as much free horsepower as possible, I have run an air-to-water system through the Upper Collector (intake manifold) using the factory washer pump.

I don't think a small reservoir of ice water will absorb much energy before it melts, except maybe for drag racing. You might be able to do better with decompressing CO2 as long as it doesn't get sucked into your engine. Here's a product that does just that:

Also, if it's really effective I bet you could detect it from ODBII MAF readings. (The chilling of air in the plenum will compress the air and cause more warm intake air to be sucked in behind it through the MAF sensor.) -- Jeff |

This Manifold Bypass prevents hot coolant from turning your intake into an "interHEATER" of sorts. Thanks for the comments. |
You know,this might work well with my SC.A "T" from my intercooler pump into this route might bring down the temps.I'll have to try this and varify the temps with my friend's OBDII.

I ran a similar Throttle Body bypass on my 350 LT1. No problems thru 3 Chicago winters.

You might like this, since your "that" kind of guy, looking for extra ponies. I designed and fabricated a HomeGrown CAI which was a hybrid between Stillen/JWT intakes. Uses off the shelf PVC plumbing, conical filter w/small inverted cone at top, Rubbermaid clear bin to keep the filter sealed from engine bay heat, Metal sound-dampening material for extra heat protection, and a custom made intake cowl and deflector made from the plastic of a Rubbermaid office trash can.
