15psi idle oil pressure ok??

Searched, found varied responses dating back a couple years. Wanted to see if there had been some closure to this topic. Nissan dealership did my oil change, can't remember if this was the way I got it off the lot. Engine has 4500 miles on it.

Thanks

Actually, I tested out WOT as well and it was glued at 90psi past 4k or so...14-15psi at idle in like 90 degree georgia weather today....

I would run 10w30 in the summer.

DayBlueZ 05-11-2005 08:52 PM

today mine was running around 90 and when i was WOT it was 120.
Seems odd to me.

normal operating oil pressure (warm engine):
idle>14psi
2k rpm>43
6k>57
from service manual

Wow, that is crazy. I guess I'm fine then, but everybody is all over the place with oil pressure.

Geeeeez...and your one state away. It's been HOT the last 5-6 days...sunny and like upper 80 degrees. What viscosity are you running??

Q45tech 05-17-2005 12:05 AM

Brand new synthetic oils [with brand new filter] will have the lowest idle pressure at warmest temperature.........conventional oil thickens with hours of use, as the lightest parts [molecules] evaporate 10-20% depending on brand.

Thus idle oil pressure will vary alot but shouldn't go below FSM minimum even after hours of hot idling in traffic, if it does you need somrthing thicker.

Low Oil pressure

So I just started to notice my oil pressure get a little low when at operating temperature when idling. It has been sitting around 15 psi. I checked the dipstick oil level and it is at the high mark (I checked after car was sitting for about 2 or 3 hours) Is this something I should be worried about?

lol prepare to get flamed

I was just curious because for the first 3 weeks that I had the car...the oil pressure was always around 30 psi when idling and at operating temperature. Sorry if it is a stupid question...I'm just trying to understand and learn by researching and asking questions.

I got a same problem, im at 15 psi since i just changed oil.
I just checked oil level, its right below at the high line.
Maybe oil level is at high cause this problem?

Cass007 12-21-2011 04:28 PM

15psi at warm idle is not a probem.

cleanddong 12-22-2011 05:10 AM

I have noticed that I just having same issue after changed oil.
I am also 15 psi at idle, and around 115 psi at pull hard.
The shop put the oil almost full, which is at the "H" line.
Is this can be cause the oil pressure problem?

My 07 runs like that all the time. Exactly as you're describing. Haven't had a problem.

30 psi is high for full operating temp idle.

Maybe your idle speed was higher previously.
