Has anyone teamed a 350evo 3.9 final drive with a supercharger?
people seem to want to keep the 3.5 or switch to 3.3 gearing
though to date, no one has ever tried it that I know of
I'd guess you'd be hard pressed for traction in 1st and 2nd gear, but you'd probably be god-like out on the highway in higher gears
I have the 3.9 on my car right now and will be going FI soon. I'm going to try out the 3.9 for a little bit before switching back to 3.5. I won't have any feedback until sept though....

If you decide to sell the 3.9's let me know.

yeah 3.3 gears are better for the 1/4 mile because your track is only 1/4 mile long.
The 3.3 probably helps make the car easier to put power down and less shifting, better gas mileage
the 3.9 I'm guessing sucks hard with lower gears, but is nice in the higher gears. Like if you're on the highway and want to pass someone, you'll get a lot more oomph in 5th and 6th gear
I'll try it out since I have the 3.9 already installed, but will probalby go back to longer gears

i'm not expecting to keep the gears in. I think I'm going to get frusturated at 1st thru 3rd gear being worthless. Highway driving might be fun with them, anyway it's not going to be until mid Sept that I put my APS TT on. Waiting on my car funds to materialize....
I've read a lot of posts in old threads where people theorize that 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear will be worthless, but not a lot of fact from people who have actually tried it. When you do try it it will be nice to have some factual real world data.
If ur racing with slicks who cares........
Highway the 3.9 own's.....and for course racing...the Z's home how often will you see 1st, 2nd....
I cant imagine trying to race the Z on the 1/4 without slicks and a 3.9/ FI combo....
with my current set up its a PITA... and I probably only have 260WHP

you might be able to do it if you put the car on jack stands, and then put the jack under the rear end, disconnect it and then lower it... depends on how high you can get the car on jack stands.
That's how I did it with my old Bimmer, but I blew that car up. The diff was quite heavy, but it was relatively easy to unbolt the driveshaft and axles. Sounds like the Z should be similarly easy?
