AC pro's and con's

How much of a difference will it make if I take the AC out of the car? Can someone just gimme a basic rundown of why this is good or not good, other than the obvious i have no more AC so its going to get hot.

less weight, better handling

smaller belt means more hp - think it was around 8whp without it?

I remember taking the AC out of my old honda. In all honesty i don't think it made a huge difference. Sure it helps, somewhat, but i don't think the little gained power is worth the loss of it. I wouldn't recomend it.

Instead of going without, go with one of those electric setups they put on early modle hot rods. You may have a tight fit but it will allow you to remove the belt driven one.

I personaly would not go without AC.

Try here, its a good start.

You may have to do HEAVY modifications but you will have AC with out belts. do more searching you will find more compact solutions. Look towards the Autos that are small REAL early Corvets, Alpha Romeao's, and Most early MG's.

Those should give you a more compact solution than one that will fit in 57 chevies, nomads or early caddies.

hope this will help you some.

EDIT: SH!T gave you the wrong link. I'll try to find the one I was looking at.

EDIT EDIT: Sh!t sorry I'm drunk in Bangkok and and cant seem to find the link from earlier.
